Hey Jack,
I just struggled with this also. I got the 1.0 RC3 to work with the latest beta build of the schedules direct plug in I could find. The recent svn builds did not work. Patrick has build and updated the plugin; it works great with 1.0 RC3. I used the SchedulesdirectpluginTV3-v1.1a I hope this helps you.

I was using the 'e' version of the plugin, I'll try the 'a' and let you know how it goes :D

Channels with all the info not mapped.

Hey all,

I have been reading this string for some time trying to get my setup working, after the frustration of webEPG and the defunct yahoo grabber I've decided its worth some bucks to have this working right. I have gotten to the point where I seem to have a functioning grab occuring, but one major issue.

- If I look into my TV guide all my channels work, but show no data available.
- At the end of my functioning guide, I find duplicate entries that actually have all the correct guide data, but are not mapped to a card so do not function.
- Question is, how do I get these two pieces together? The functioning channel and the guide data???

Thanks,
I really hope this one is easy, bout to lose it on this pc.

One hour off

I've been using xmltv with schedules direct and it's been working ok, but I noticed yesterday that todays schedule was one hour off, (listing programs that start at 9pm as starting at 10pm). I've been trying to fix it and came across the schedulesdirect plugin and thought I'd give it a try. So far no luck. Any ideas for me?

I don't know how to determine what SVN I am using; don't even know what SVN stands for. I have been running 1.0 RC3 for a week or so now if that says anything.

------- later in the day--------------

It appears that my schedule is back on track now.

Went through the TV-Server Configuration pick by pick looking for anything to do with EPG. Found a few options with pertinance:

Under TV Channels -> TV EPG Grabber there was an option to store data for selected channels; I cleared that checkbox.

Under General Settings -> EPG tab there were options for "Always try to fill holes" and "Always try to update existing entries." I populated both of those checkboxes.

There were other settings on the latter menu path pertaining to EPG grabbing that I did not populate due to past problems with them interfereing with xmltv.

I the SchedulesDirect plugin is independent of the EPG settings in the rest of the setup, but it seems like maybe they work together? Do I need to have certain boxes populated in other areas of the setup for the SchedulesDirect plugin to work properly?

Not really sure what you are looking for....this plugin does not create a file with guide data. It just updates the MP database.

RC3 - TV Server - Hauppauge 1600 Model 1199 - 1.1a Schedules Direct Plugin

Welcome!!

I am not sure where you are starting from and cannot tell what your setup is so here are the basics.

Start fresh.
Clear all your existing channels.
Re-run the MP auto-tune.
This helps in multiple ways. I have no idea what other EPG plugins you may have tried do to the mapping so anything strange can cause a problem and to determine what new data needs to be downloaded the plugin gets the date/time of the last program in the guide. So if you have no EPG data until 10 days out then depending on your settings the plugin may decide you do not need any more data.

Enable matching by channel # without frequency.

Give the plugin 30-45 minutes at least for the initial update. It has to do a lot and depending on your lineup and PC speed can take a while.

HTH,
patrick

Yes the SD plugin is fairly independent of the MP settings.
Using the SD plugin has nothing to do with the XMLTV plugin and will most likely cause errors until the channel list is cleared and recreated fresh for one or the other.

Programs being an hour off has nothing to do with this plugin. Meaning a show starts @ 8PM it does not matter if it is daylight savings or not ;)
(The internal MP plugins used to use some type of offset so this could cause issues)
Would only potentially have caused issues with this plugin on programs that start @ 2AM or ran through 2AM.

Not sure what those settings do but this plugin always tries to input the most up to date programs in the EPG.

Hello Patrick.

I am also finding it challenging to get my setup working correctly. I have a pvr-500 and a 713x kworld DVB-C card.

I currently have the DVB-C card disabled until I get all analog configured correctly. I have tried this two ways. I installed the 1.1a plugin to the tvserver dir and configured it after already have scanned for channels. I could tune ALL of my channels but the EPG was very spotty. It said no data in a lot of places.

Milhouse told me to blow away all of my channels and just map the channels that SD plugin finds to my cards. I try that.. but my cards never end up tuning anything. Black screen.

In all of your instructions, I see you say run the auto-tune option. I don't see that anywhere. I think I remember seeing that in some older versions of MP under the tv setup in the MP frontend itself. But I can't locate "auto-tune" anywhere. Even in TV-server.

help!!!

Thanks. :)

Aval0n, I have a Kworld 713x card also, but I have it enabled and am only using the digital portion of this hybrid card for OTA digital reception. I have the analog ability of this card disabled and do not intend to use it.

When I first setup the SD plugin my program data was "spotty" too with lots of "no data" appearing. When I checked it immediately after configuration it said "no data" for everything. I think the instructions say to wait 30 or 45 minutes, so I just waited a while. It wasn't complete after 45 minutes, but it seemed to correct itself by the next day. I was messing around with things so I don't know for sure if it was just updating itself or if I inadvertently "fixed" it.

Not 100% positive, but I think the "auto-tune" option is in the TV-Server configuration under this menu path:

"TV-Servers -> {your server name or address}->{your tuner card}->Scan for channels"

I could be wrong, but this is how I've interpreted the "auto-scan" instruction. btw it took my system about 30 minutes to scan through 69 channels, so don't start if you're in a hurry.

patrick,

Yes the SD plugin is fairly independent of the MP settings.

I'm very new to MP so I'm still learning a lot here. It appears that MP supports downloading program data OTA directly, without a plugin. Is this true or false, and does this ability have to be disabled so as not to interfere with the SD plugin? For that matter, if I'm only using OTA reception (no cable/satelite/whatever other options exist) do I even need to use a plugin at all to get this type of program data?

I run both GBPVR and MP (1 RC3) and use SD for TV listings. Whether I have both running--or kill the GBPVR service and let MP run alone--the MP TV listings are filled with many "no data" entries. GBPVR will have listings for all those missing in MP.

I think MP does support some type of guide download from some digital signals.
I am not sure on the specifics other than I do not have that ability ;)
If you could get that data you may be correct and not need this plugin.

Strange.
When I see holes like that it usually means either the guide is currently updating or a prior update was interrupted and left holes. If it was interrupted then the plugin may think it has enough data. You could trying clearing your channels and start over or eventually the plugin will catch up. Just remember that the plugin can take a while the first update depending on the lineup, days and your PC.

Fill Holes?

There is a Fill Holes checkbox in the EPG settings (NOT the SD plugin settings) that I populated, could it be possible that is working with the SD plugin to fill the no data holes?

I just setup gbpvr last night and so far I really like the simplicity of the interface and ease of setup; especially the EPG - no hitches at all with the Schedules Direct account already being setup. The ability to record in dvr-ms format is very convenient with my other system running MCE. Thanks kimnach!

Now if I can just figure out how to use my SD account to populate the MCE EPG on the other pc...
