Re: Schedules Direct US/Canadian/Mexico EPG Plugin (Updated January 2010)

I am also running the latest svn as well - I am able to successfully map all channels to my HD-PVR, but no channel data is found for any channels - I have tried several versions of this plugin including the most recent release and still not data available - any ideas to repair this? is it the fault of the SD plugin or my own?

Re: Schedules Direct US/Canadian/Mexico EPG Plugin (Updated January 2010)

I found that the problem was having Radio channels. I had to get rid of all my radio channels for this to start working.

I don't think this was a problem with the plugin - rather with the TVPlugin.

Hopefully this is resolved soon.

Schedules Direct US/Canadian/Mexico EPG Plugin (1.1.25080)

I compiled Schedules Direct against SVN 25080 (RC1) that was just released a few days ago.

I tested it on my Media Portal setup and everything is working.

***MP stand alone***
Best Way:
-Exit MP and delete the Zap2it plugin dll file.
-Unzip the SchedulesDirectPlugin.dll file to the MediaPortal\plugins\process folder

*** TVE3/TvService ***
Best Way:
-Stop the TvService/SetupTv
-Unzip the SchedulesDirectPluginTVE3.dll file to the TvServer Plugins folder

JF

The above implies there are two versions of the .dll file – one w/o TV3 in the filename (for use with standalone MP), and another with TVE3 in the filename (to be used for TVE3/TvService installations). Yet the zip file contains only one file, and it is named SchedulesDirectPluginTVE3.dll. Will this file in fact work for either type of installation (the important distinction between the two setups being to place the file in the correct folder – and to disregard the mention of a file named SchedulesDirectPlugin.dll)?

I think MP no longer supports the "Stand Alone" program it did in the past... and Zap-2-it went out years ago and is how SchedulesDirect got started! Today the TV Engine (version 3) is supported solely, right? Apparently the in-built TV Engine was retired with in MP 1.0.2 All I know is you have to keep current on this MediaPortal program... MP 1.1.0 RC1 is the latest Release Candidate and the ZIP file above includes the reference number 25080 to keep us in sync with the SVN number that is uniquely 1.1.0 RC1

Sorry if that's confusing but I am running this latest pair and it works great from what I can tell. If you need a Stand Alone version I don't know what to tell you other than I have an old computer running MP 0.2.3 and an old SchedulesDirect dll

Re: Schedules Direct US/Canadian/Mexico EPG Plugin (Updated January 2010)

I just downloaded 1.0.2 a few days ago (deliberately chose "stable" version over the presumably potentially riskier RC1). It seems to me that during installation, I was given the option to install just MediaPortal or the optional TVE3 TV service as well. I distinctly recall choosing to include the TVE3 option because it specified that it was essential for viewing HD content. It appears to me that it is also required if one wants a server/client setup. While I intend to enjoy TV throughout my network, I can accomplish this w/o need of a server/client installation as I am using a Silicon Dust HDHomeRun network tuner. Because I do not presently intend to establish one PC as an always-on Media Portal server, I figure I can simply use MCE 2005 on another computer and perhaps another stand-alone Media Portal installation on a third computer. I am not concerned about doing much sharing of recorded contents among computers.

Perhaps I'd be wise to uninstall version 1.0.2 and instead install 1.1.0 RC1. My reluctance is that there always seems to be trade offs when choosing the latest beta or release candidates, apart from the potenial bugs. Documentation, for example, often lags behind software releases which results in confusion when trying to figure out what the devil is going on. That said, I had one hell of a time simply figuring out what I needed to right click just in order to perform a channel scan - I looked high and low in the TVE configuration utility, the MP config utility, and in the MP program itself, before I happened to find it hiding within a right-click menu in TVE config. I never did discover any clear discussion of this in any of the numerous wikis, manuals, user guides, forums, etc.

The program looks promising, but after giving up on GB-PVR after literally weeks without success (despite many generous and well-intentioned replys in the various forums I consulted), I was hoping Media Portal might involve a less jagged learning curve. With "only" two days invested, perhaps I'll get over the hump soon and be another grateful devotee.

Cool... you are soooo on the mark about these versions and what level of development they're at. I am happy with my STABLE install of 1.0.2 on a WinXP machine - see MySystem. If you're just getting up to speed I'd hold off on 1.1 RC1 because there are a bunch o' bug-fixes in the soon to be released RC2. I am working a new system with Win7 Premium and MP 1.1. RC1 which isn't got me quite ready to switch... seems the DXVA isn't kicking in on MPEG-2 and I can't decide whether it's the codec or the 4200 iGPU. I always thought .264 was CPU intensive and I use 4% CPU with MP-MPC's while 16-20% on MPEG-2 decoding -- go figure!

Sounds like you've been around the block... enjoy!

Re: Schedules Direct US/Canadian/Mexico EPG Plugin (Updated January 2010)

    Welcome, datdarndot

I'm also hesitant to move from MP 1.0.2... just waiting for the feedback on RC2 before taking the plunge.

I'm happy with 1.0.2 for the time being, although there are occasional glitches and crashes, It's not so bad that I would give up waiting. I came in well over a year ago when every version seemed to be a test version, until 1.0.2 and I've been pleased with it's operation, despite the occasional issues.

I'm running MP on a dedicated HTPC with TV3 for everyday TV and media use, and also on a second computer I use for skin dev, bot XP machines. Although it is not yet ready for prime time, I'm using it as my primary skin. The dev computer is really for everyday computer use, but I occasionally run MP as a client. It immediately connects to the HPTV via my network allowing me to test every aspect of my skin, as well as helping work out the kinks in the development of a few plug-ins.

I'm looking forward to seeing MP 1.x through (as far as it can go) till MP 2 is stable and able to replace it in a working environment (although it will require upgrading to Win7).

Have fun, and I hope to see you around these parts for a long time.

    Chuck

Re: Schedules Direct US/Canadian/Mexico EPG Plugin (Updated January 2010)

Does anyone know if this plugin is working with RC2? I have installed the plugin with RC2 and there were some problems due to some changes with the RC2 codebase. It would cause the TV Server Configuration to crash. I can't remember the specific error but there is a work around that required me to replace some config files. I will post the link when I find it.

Now it seems that my guide data is off and possibly not updating. I have a few issues with some channels also. Two of them are showing guide data for different channels. I have renamed the channels to match SD and then checked "use channel number only.." and forced guide update.

If it should be working with RC2 let me know and I will post my logs.

    Thanks

I have the same problem. The plugin would load in TV Server Config but would crash when it would try and save the data entered.
