Not a problem. It worked. That is all that matters <grin>.

When I went though this lat time ( a few months ago), the big problems I ran into were associated with
1. getting EventGhost and IRSS to play nice together. The USBUIRT doesn't handle multiple services using the device simultaneously. This time, I will install it as a program instead of a service. MP will use the USBUIRT to change the channel on the cablebox. I need to use EVentGhost as I have more than just MediaPortal running on thiss computer and I need to use the USBUIRT to turn the TV on and off and cha nge the volume on my sound system.
2. Getting all of the tuners to play nice. I have an HDHomeRun (digital qam cable), an HDPVR (analog tuner that uses the cable box to change channels) and an Adaptec dual tuner (analog). I never got far enough to determine how serious the problems were going to be. I believe there was some doubt that I could use both the HD-PVR and Adaptec tuners together because of an issue with the tuning details. If I understood correctly, MP would not know which tuning details to use.

mm gave me a lot of help back then but I had to shelf the move to MP because the computer I was working on is used by the rest of the family.

Now is time to dive back in.

I hope this is the right place to do this. I'm having a problem with the Schedules Direct plug in. I'm in Vancouver, BC, Canada. Using a Hdhr3 with ota digital signals. I've Scanned all my channels in. Renamed them all to what is listed on my schedules direct account. I get 11 of 13 channels working perfectly. CBC however (both English and French) come up in my epg as no data available. If I add them through the plug in they list the schedules but when selecting them I get a pop up that says no free card available. In my TV Server Configuration if I go to all channels it says it's not mapped to a card.

This may have something to do with that they have a virtual channel but I'm not sure of it. the virtual channel is 2.1 CBUTDT. It's real channel is 43-3. I have gone through the mapping procedures of deleting the channel, rescanning for it, renaming it, and restarting the service many times changing various settings in the schedules direct plugin to no avail.

Thanks in advance.

I figured out how to fix my problem from another forum post on how to edit your Mysql file.

for those interested I downloaded MySQL workbench and followed these instructions

Within in MySQL Workspace - Edit Table Data....(lower right part of screen)
Stored Connection: Local Instance MySQL (located in dropdown box tab.
Password: MediaPortal (Case Specific)
Click Next
Schema: mptvdb
Table: channel
Click Finish
The editor opens up
field externalID is the number you want to change i.e.
17593.43.schedulesdirect.org - 17593 = schedulesdirect Id number found associated with the line-up you have already selected.
Lo and Behold it worked!!!

Hello,

I have recently decided to give media portal another try. I will most be using to record TV.

i have a schedules direct account, and it is linked. I am using cable, OTA and satellite. The cable guide data is coming through for most channels, OTA is getting the guide data from the cable listing, and I am not getting any from satellite.

does it take time to update? I have been forcing an update for 2 days now.

what can I look for as in errors? nmaybe my OTA channels are not mapped right? I know my last go around I couldnt get OTA channels to work.

thanks

joshuasdad, Again, as in the past, I wish I could offer more help in your situation. I only have OTA and get the guide data from schedules direct for my scanned channels. The initial data download took about 40 minutes, and refreshes every couple days, unattended. I renamed the channel call-signs to some wife-friendly form and manually sorted them in order of the virtual-channel number, but didn't change any other data, so channel number and virtual-channel numbers are untouched. It wasn't that difficult for me in my case. I have multiple tuners but all are mapped to the same channels.

I don't know how the cable and sat feeds work so I can't help at all there. I don't know if you might be running into conflicts between local-broadcast on free-to-air cable and OTA, but I would think their channel numbers would be listed separately, with the OTA in the lower numbers. Does schedules direct list sat channels?

Yes, schedules direct has satellite. I have all 3 lists added on my account.

Global Calgary is channel 29, virtual 2-1 picks up 29 cable which is CNN.

So I have 7 ota channels doing this.

Have you contacted Schedules Direct about the guide conflict issues? to see if they might have some tuning suggestions? When there are so many cooks in the kitchen, it is easy to get the run-around, and not so easy to get to the solution. If more than one broadcast service is using the same identifying data, I don't know how TV Server would know the difference. if that is what is happening. I don't know if there is some unique marker that could be used to separate OTA, Cable and Sat. services. .. or how would MP know to switch to a duplicated channel on OTA if both the Sat and cable were busy, or visa-versa. Or some way to map the cable and sat channel scans to different number ranges, dependant on which tuner is used.

I got it to work in mythtv and wmc.

The xmlid is different, that should be the determining factor.

    I will keep digging.

I deleted the db, lots duplicates, starting over.

I also delete cable from my listings for now.

I manually edited the ota channels is MySQL, and I got it working, all sat channel too.

Just need to manually add one ota channel that didn't scan in.

    Looking good.

I haven't added cable in yet

How to get channels in numerical order? Not db sorted. 1,2,3,4 not 1,2,20,3

    Thanks

Hello! I just onboard and ordered Schedules Direct days back and I have a couple of questions around auto scheduling. I understand that there is a way to automatically schedule the epg downloads via a script somewhere? Does this option exist? If so, how and where does one implement this feature? Thank you.
