I just got through installing and setting up MP2 Summer '16. I'm using Windows 10 Home Edition. I've tried repeatedly to use mc2xml (Schedule Direct), but when I try to get the xmltv plugin to import the tvguide xml file, the plugin insists that the file is invalid. I've downloaded the Schedule Direct plugin and the Extensions Manager plugin, but I haven't been able to find any instructions on how to install them. Any suggestions?

    Hi there,

Can you please post your log file(s) for MP2 and your tvguide.xml file.

    Thanks,

    J.

I was actually wondering the same thing. Is it possible to install MP1 TV-Server plugins into the MP2 TV-Server?

Is it possible to install MP1 TV-Server plugins into the MP2 TV-Server?
Yes, it is - within certain limitations as not that many MP1 plugins will directly work under MP2.

However, there currently is no PluginManager like in MP1 and the process is manual and way off being comfortable. There will eventually be a MP2 PluginManager but until then we have to live with the constraints.

@Lehmden @morpheus_xx : Can you give a quick explanation how to manually proceed for Schedules Direct?

    Hi.
Is it possible to install MP1 TV-Server plugins into the MP2 TV-Server?
Yes it is. Most (if not all) TV Server plugins are working by simply copying the dll into

    c:\Program Files (x86)\Team MediaPortal\MP2-Server\Plugins\SlimTv.Service3\Plugins\

This way I can use e.g. the TVServerKodi plugin to connect my Raspberry Pi with the MP2 Server. If you don't have the dll files handy you can rename the mpei package to .zip and extract the content to a temp folder. Now you need to rename the files properly (you will see what I mean if you have a look inside). After this you can move the files to the right place.

This is valid for most MP1 TV Server plugins. But often they are a pair of a TV Server and a MP1 Client plugin. And here you are in trouble. The TV Server part most likely is working, but the client part definitely is not. You have to decide if the plugin is useful nevertheless...

For SD there is a nice howto here:

I've made two separate attempts to correct a mistake I discovered a little while ago (not saving the mappings). In both cases, however, the schedule listings do not show up in the main MP schedule display. I've attached the collected log files (I FINALLY discovered the log file collector utility!). The "how-to file" seems to be excessively complicated, but I'll try it if nothing else works.

Given the problems I've had thus far with MP2, I'm actually beginning to wonder if it might be better for me to uninstall MP2, and try working with the current version of MP1, at least for a while. This is especially true given the fact that MP1 does have a plugin manager available. What do you guys think?

    That's entirely your choice.:)

Elements like the PluginManager don't yet exist for MP2 (they will come though). It depends what you are looking for. If you simply want to replace a WMC and use it on one PC on single-seat, MP2 can't offer you anything on top and MP1 is definitely a very mature solution. When it comes to multi-client environments that might be a different thing.

Generally speaking the choice of available plugins for MP2 is much, much smaller than for MP1. That said, the essential functions are already installed in MP2 without the need of having to look for additional plugins. In the end you need to be happy with your system and if MP1 can give you a better result for your needs, then give it a try.
