Scrambled Channels (HBO, etc) (1 Viewer)

Hello,

I have the HDHomeRun Prime, which has in the past worked great using the windows Media Center w/ Cablecard support. My cable plan from Comcast includes premium channels sch as HBO, showtime, etc.

I noticed with MediaPortal that when i tuned to these channels, i got no picture or etc. Am i doing something wrong? I want to finally get this working so i can return my other equipment to comcast and save like $75/mo.

My choice is to go with X1 and not ever have cablecard support again or make use of the cable card, add more in for additional tuners being available and to go with it.

No, you're not doing anything wrong. You can't receive premium channels like HBO and ShowTime with MediaPortal. Comcast will have marked them with the "copy once" flag to try to prevent programs from being recorded then shared on the internet.

For MediaPortal to be able to receive a channel it must be marked as "copy freely". To see the channels you can get in MediaPortal you can load the following link in your internet browser:
http://<PRIME IP address>/lineup.xml?show=unprotected

To see all channels in your lineup:
http://<PRIME IP address>/lineup.xml?show=all

The channels that are in the "all" list but not in the "unprotected" list are the ones you can't get in MediaPortal.

I note that this restriction applies to almost all PC software - N-PVR, MythTV, SageTV etc. Only WMC currently enables you to get "copy once" channels.
