This issue is still alive. I did a clean installation of RC2 where resuming from S3 still works. Since a SVN of RC2 resuming from S3 doesn't work anymore as it should on my HTPC. :( Strange that no one else has run into this problem. Maybe it has to do with my specific hardware setup or something.

I don't know if this information can solve this and some other problems but it worth trying.
I was googling for Vista SP2 and came across this page which lists all new hotfixes mainly related to Vista. There is one hotfix talking about black screen after wake up which relates also to XP machines. The list is long, and if you scroll down or search for the problem you'll find the fix.
The page is Hotfixes and Security Updates in Windows Server 2008 SP2 Beta and Windows Vista SP2 Beta
Good luck, I will certainly go through some of the listed hotfixes as I stuck with Vista for now.

I don't know if can help, because don't resolve the problem but it's a trick to have a good recording after resume, I used Mpstandbyhandler: https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/plugins-47/mpstandbyhandler-44296/ . I don think that the microsoft pacth can resolve, but i don't try it, i think that is a problem of Mp or PVR (that i use) and my hardware. If i use Mpstandbyhandler and i set tvserver resume without delay and MP restart on resume with delay, when MP restart the black screen goes away and start the recordind without problem...

hoping that help you

Well, did anyone here try this hotfix?
I haven't, but it sounds interesting. My machine isn't multicore though, so it shouldn't be the problem. I get this problem so rarely (actually it hasn't happened once since I posted earlier on this thread) that I won't really be able to tell if it's done any good anyway! It's only ever happened to me with the RC4 "alternative splash screen" enabled.

    Hi,

got the same problem, and furthermore when I hit a button on my keyboard everything goes on and works well, but the prob is that I've got usually only a remote (MCE) on my HTPC and hitting there a button results in nothing but the mentioned black screen :\ Even tried the hotfix mentioned, but no change. And I found out that program in Background are started and work only the Screen is black :( !?!

    Regards ARE2

PS: Happens on a MP 1.0 Client

I have EXACTLY same problem. Clean install of MP 1.0 both XP SP3 and Vista 32-bit (same computer). I've tried every setting in MP Configuration -> General, enabled/disabled "Force TV detection" in Catalyst Control Center and even tried the S3Hack (introduced here: https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/general-support-51/mp-hangs-when-getting-out-standby-50788/) but none of these makes any difference.

Manual wake up works fine, but automatic wake up ends up to black screen, recordings and all are working fine in the background but I only get picture if I press mouse button :(
