the jump to now playing music screen if inactive for 2 minutes and music is playing sounds good =)

it would be good if it could be setup to jump to a screen saver if inactive for 2 mins + no music is playing.

Hi kiwijunglist,
the actual version supports this.
In the configuration dialog, open the "Power" tab, enable the option "Activate screensaver" and activate the option "Prevent, if music or radio is playing". In my opinion, these settings fulfills your requirement.

sweet, thank you micropolis. i have another idea that some users might like. ablity to trigger screensaver with a key combination. this would be useful if i have geiss (music visualization) as my windows screensaver, and I play music and I want to activate my visulaization screensaver. just a thought not sure if this is a good idea or not, just thought i'd put it out there for consideration/retort. keep up the good work.

currently you can activate the windows internal screensaver using a quick activation key.
In my opinion you mean a quick activation key for the internal visualization screen of MediaPortal, right? If yes, I can extend this plugin, it's a simple and quick change.

that would be useful too, however i did mean using windows screensaver (geiss) as a viz, bc last time i tried the internal MP viz engine it was quite buggy.

Hi,
just one question regarding the screensaver activation. I would like to use the Windows Media Center Screensaver as my HTPC screensaver. I tried to use the tool "Screen Launcher" from bartdart.com -- freeware for you with the command line:
C:\Windows\ehome\ehshell.exe /screensaver
From the normal screensaver setup dialog there is no problem with this tool, the WMC screensaver starts perfectly...
But when I try to test (or use) this screensaver from the Screen Control plugin (Version v0.7.0.0 in MP 1.1.1.0), nothing happens.
I also tried to write my own small tool to start the WMC-Screensaver, works from the normal dialog box perfect, from Screen Control the same problem, nothing happens.
My question now: How do you invoke the screensaver? Normally windows invokes the actual screensaver in the form
selectedscreensaver.scr /s
What's your way of doing this? Is there something to take care of?
BTW, I tried Screen Control Plugin with different (normal buildin) windows screensavers, they are working fine. It seem to be a problem with either the Screen Launcher tool or with my own programmed screensaver or WMC-screensaver...
Would be nice, if someone has some hints...

i'm also unable to get the screensaver to work. i've got it set to kick in after 5 minutes of idle time, and "prevent during fullscreen" is turned off. clicking "preview" in the config works just fine. i leave MP idle for an hour and nothing happens. it's just a regular windows 7 built-in screensaver. what am i doing wrong?

edit: actually, this plugin does nothing. nothing at all. i've got the page jump thing set to return to the home page after 30 minutes. left overnight sat on a tv-series page, and it's still there now. also the red button on my remote does not activate the screensaver either, which also did not activate after the allotted 5 minutes passed.

this plugin does nothing at all! it is enabled in config, i checked.

Hi,
I tested it om my system (W7pro 32bit, MP 1.1.1.0) with a normal W7 screensaver and it worked fine...
I only have problems with certain "3rd-Party" screensavers like WMC screensaver :-( They wont start or preview from ScreenControl plugin...

Hi,

just gave it a try, running w7-32bit and MePo 1.1.2. The screensaver works from the preview button in the settings dialog but wouldn't show up in mediportal when idle... I deactivated the always on top feature and the standard MePo idle timer. Does anyone have the same problem?
