Screens goes black, audio is fine, but Mediaportal doesn't work anyore (1 Viewer)

Any news on this? I am having the exact same issue. Latest version of mediaportal, latest nvidia gfx and have tried LAV, ffdshow, microsoft etc. Seems to happen randomly, but nearly always when i watch a video file then stop it and try to watch another different video file. Sometimes it happens in movies, somethimes videos and even TV. Really dont want to do a clean install again

ah yes, sounds about right. Does happen when I stop my live tv then try to open another video file or turn the tv back on. Glad it has been identified.

I also recently started suffering from this issue when watching TV shows through the TV-Series plugin. After reading around, I saw a post in the MovingPictures forum that sounded very familiar to this problem. I followed the following post and it has seemed to fix my problem, but I'm not sure if it will work for everyone.

My guess is that ffdshow codec by default does some sort of analyzing of the file before playback, but that the time to analyze conflicts with the playback. Perhaps this is caused by the MediaInfo scan that MediaPortal performs right before playback as well. It can also be that updating the MediaInfo DLL library will fix your issues, please read: https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/836165-post4.html for more info on how to do that.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the issue doesn't come back, and I will report back if I come across the issue again.

Unfortunately in my case the updated mediainfo.dll didn't fix the issue. Thanks anyway for the suggestion.

If that fails is it worth a clean windows 7 re-install? Im wondering if the bug effects everyone or is just random?

My wife tonight suggested putting my media pc away and forgetting about using it anymore because of the issue!! HELP! lol I cant go back to mce

The 'work around' which seems to prevent the issue with me is making sure I stop live TV with the 'STOP' button when it fullscreen, and never from the main menu.

Hello guys,

this problem is still not solved for me and it's driving me crazy sometimes!!

My MP setup is super stable, but only this problem is everytime comming back and I have really no idea what it could be..

It happend one a week I think.. It happend in Live TV, MovingPictures, Onlinevideos, tvseries etc..

By example: I have seen a movie in OnlineVideos, and after that start live tv, the screen goes black and only audio is fine.. I have to restart the system to solve it for that moment..

Does ANYONE has an idea what I could try???
