I checked the wiki and this forum but didn't find an answer. How do I search for a movie title? I see that there's a facility to use a numeric keypad like a mobile phone, but I don't have numbers on my remote. I have my keyboard nearby and thought I could just type the first letter of the movie I want and it would jump to it, but it doesn't.

I've tried disabling the numeric keypad thingie so that it uses whatever is the default, but I couldn't figure out what that was either. It seemed to still expect me to push numbers.

Ideally there'd be a key/shortcut that simply pops up a window where I can type in some characters and press enter, and it would show me a list of movies with those characters in it.

Since I've got a couple of thousand movies, scrolling through the entire list visually isn't an option.

My apologies for not having a remote with a numeric keypad, but I haven't found any that don't also have 50 other buttons that I'd never use, so I use my media controller remote that has about 10 buttons and a scroll ball. Nice and simple and works for 99.9% of the things I need to do while in MP (except searching!)

Oh good - I thought it was yet another "I should have known that already"!

nice ! =) didnt know that. I am using a Logitech DiNovo Mini. And there is no letters on the numbers =) (if that makes any sence =) ) So i use a mobile phone by my side to se what to push next (no ideal).

This feature is nice, but its not filtering, its "just" jumping to that file. So as an example if i have the following films:
    "Harry potter and the ..."

When i press Shift and type: "pot" i will go to the movies that start with "pot" and not Harry potter. Is there another feature ive missed that enables me to use the "moving pictures filter function" without the numpad ?

im also wondering this! would be great if it was possible to filter out movies instead of just jumping to file using the keyboard,
