I'm wondering if mediaportal is able to activate a second audio channel
which is used for blind people in order to have TV programs commented.

let me know if is possible and how to activate that.

thanks in advance
Nicola

    Hi Nicola

Yes, MP allows you to select the audio track. Use the 'a' key to cycle through the available tracks, or use the "audio language" control in the actions menu (-->wiki<--) to select a particular track. If the descriptive track is always labelled with a particular language (it is labelled "italian" here in NZ) or in a particular format then you can get MP to prefer the right track using a combination of a list of preferred languages and the "prefer audio type over language" and "prefer AC3 sound option". All the relevant settings are on the audio settings tab of the TV Client section in MediaPortal configuration (link here - sorry not much text to describe the screenshots).

If the track can be identfied by language then put the language at the top of your list of preferred languages and untick the "prefer audio type over language" setting. If the track can be identified by format then tick the "prefer audio type over language" and either untick or tick the "prefer AC3" option as appropriate. If there are no distinguishing features or each channel/provider does things differently then the 'a' key might be the only option (sorry, there is no per-channel preference)...

    Best regards,
    mm

[Edit: MP can only play one track at a time]

You can't change the language - the provider sets it. I was only saying that in NZ, TVNZ uses "ITA" to identify the descriptive track. Things are almost certain to be different for the channels you are receiving.

Is there a specific channel or provider for which you're trying to get a particular audio track to be preferred? I think that it would be best if you post logs so I can see how the audio tracks are identified.

    1. Use the MP debug mode (short cut in the MP folder in the start menu) to start MP. Use the first option - "report bug".
    2. Tune to a channel that you know (or think) has a descriptive audio track.
    3. View it for 10 seconds or so.
    4. Close MP.
    5. Post the logs that are collected here.
