I have a problem occuring since upgrading to RC3. When I open up the TV Guide and move to a show I want to record or do an advanced recording. I press the OK button on my remote and it seems to locks up. On Client 1 the program locks up and takes about 5 mins to enter the next screen. On Client 2 it takes about 1 minute.

System Specs of Client 2 are actually my system specs for my profile. The logs provided for Client 2 are what is generated when I run the new Debug Option. On both clients no further logs are created once I click on the program in the guide.
If no else can confirm this occurs to them then I will try a fresh install instead of an upgrade and if that doesn't fix the problem than I will generate the logs again.

I have tried a fresh install of the MP Client and the MP Server. Neither of which fixed the problem. I installed a fresh copy of MP1.0.2 Client and Server, problem was gone. Uninstalled and installed RC1 problem happens again. Installed RC3, problem is still there. I also tried installing with MS SQL instead of MySQL, it also made no difference. I am not sure if this is related but I also noticed when I force an import on the TV Server of the xmltv file that has been download, it takes a very long time in RC3 compaired to 1.0.2. I have attached logs for 1.0.2 and RC3 for the client and also for the import of the xmltv file.

The way XMLTv imports are done has changed slightly. In 1.0.2 all you are seeing in the logs is the request to add details to the EPG. This is just passing the data to a queue to actually insert. In 1.1 you now see this queue being processed.

if you look at the line
    Code:
    2010-05-26 23:39:58.917573 [SetupTv(1)]: Xmltv: imported 21 channels, 3405 programs status:tvguide.xml:File imported successfully;
in both logs you will see this actually takes about the same time (just under a second)

So this is no different. Just more info in the logs

In client RC3 logs you open up and play TV and gets a little confusing.

Is it possible you could gather logs on client in debug mode and just open MP wait about 20 seconds (just makes logs a little clearer once all the startup tasks are out the way) and the go straight to guide and select a program

I am guessing you have this set to start TV as soon as you open it? If you don't have a remote to go straight to the guide could you just disable this in order to collect the logs?

    Thanks

I'm seeing the same thing on a single seat install, with a 45sec delay going from EPG to the recording screen. There's been a noticeable delay in all previous versions but RC3 is 4-5 times slower. Logs are showing *nothing*, in the attached ones I click on a programme at 18:17:02 and quit MP at 18:17:47 (the moment it enters the record screen).

Its doing something that chews 17% CPU on 3.3Ghz quad core Phenom II for the duration.

    Code:
    2010-05-26 18:16:13.534625 [Debug][MPMain(1)]: DialogWindow: TvPlugin.TVGuide init
    2010-05-26 18:17:02.769000 [Debug][MPMain(1)]: Window: TvPlugin.TVProgramInfo init - select programme here
    2010-05-26 18:17:47.206500 [Debug][MPMain(1)]: GUIFont:texture disposing:0 debug - screen switches here
    2010-05-26 18:17:47.206500 [Debug][MPMain(1)]: GUIFont:texture disposing:1 font9

    TV disabled, using mySql.

I have a massive number of scheduled recordings, most 'Advanced' which causes significant delays doing anything with schedules - might be related.

Here the logs as requested without the TV starting and waiting before selecting the program. On my system the MediaPortal.exe program shows as Not Responding in Task Manager for the entire time that it is trying to get the Program Information.

Did program info actually end up responding??

Looks like a network issue as you have this in your event log
    Code:
27/05/2010 7:21:15 PM;"Microsoft-Windows-DNS-Client";"(0)";"Warning";"Name resolution for the name 194.135.66.203.in-addr.arpa timed out after none of the configured DNS servers responded.";"1014"

but your TV server is set to run on 192.168.1.151....

if you launch a command prompt (as admin if Vista or Win7) and type
    Code:
    nslookup 192.168.1.151
    and
    Code:
    ping 192.168.1.151
    what happens?

I take it you have no other issues when playing back TV other then this?

Have you setup your network with anything odd? (your own local DNS servers or a domain ??) this is moaning about some reverse DNS stuff which is a bit odd in a normal home network. Also a further thought is DHCP turned on or have you setup static IPs? If static what are your dns servers set to?
