I just tried to connect to a SQL Server 2008 Express database intead of 2005. TV-Server is running pretty well with it, but the webinterface doesn't. Any chance to add the possibility to connect to a 2008 express database? I know that the 2008 express edition isn't supported by MediaPortal, yet. But i got less problems with the 2008 edition so I don't want to switch back.

A bit of an improvement suggestion.

Can the channels listed under 'Select a channel' in the search dialogue be limited to the default channel group. I have a lot of channels but only a few active in my default group. Finding the channel I want to search takes a long time at the moment.

    Thanks again!

    Big_Kev,

Great to hear about the remote Music control. Unfortunately, all my MP clients are seperate from my TVServer server. :( BTW, could you please look at why setting a channel as a search filter in the Smart Query feature fails to return results? If I set it to Any channel I get results.

    Thanks!

Sorry to harp on, but I still can't get this working :(
Anyone got any suggestions or had similar problems?
    Cheers,

    Hi Kev,
I had a go getting the EPG Downloader and had some issues (see https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/...der-service-tv-server-only-32166/index12.html). So I switched to the web server and got a little further. The issue I had there seemed gone here but for some reason I got some others.

    First a minor issue:
The buttons at the bottom of the window are half obscured below the window as is the version number.

If I select the "add database" check box in the first tab, and then save it gives me a write error - it woudn't let me add the database, I think it might be permisssions, but I added the new user and added all the privileges. When I start the MySQL Admin I get an error, but everything seems to be there and I can see all users and add and delete them.

The bigger issue is that I still can't the EPG downloader running, I set up source (using the xmltv.locost7 - but for melbourne) and wait and wait and nothing is populated to match back against.

I can access the web server via the web interface, so that work!

    any help appreciated,
    C

    EDIT: I'm using Version 0.4.0.15, on Win XP3, WM11 and MP1 RC2 with MySQL

    Callumg,

Sorry, but I have only used MSSQL. Off the cuff.. did you install the MySql client libraries at the same time as the server? I suspect Big Kev's programme may need them.

    Hey all....

I can connect to the web interface no problem from a computer on my network.

But if I try to connect externally I get the following....

    "[AnyDAC][Phys][ODBC][Microsoft][SQL Native Client]Communication link failure"

I'm 100% sure I've got the port forwarding correct for 8080, do I need to forward anything else?

    Regards,

    Tommy

EDIT - Just uploaded the latest version and it seems to be working now! Awesome!

    Hi Gluck,
Thanks for your response. I have only used the standard installation for Mediaportal 1 RC2 ( and server). Then found that the server admin bit was missing, so I installed that. I'll add the Windows ZIP/Setup.EXE (x86) from MySQL :: MySQL 5.0 Downloads and see what happens...

    updated list of request/opinions/suggestions...

    1) when doing a search, if there is no result, show a message saying that instead of a blank screen under the web interface menu.

    2) if possible, when going to "search" menu, make the writting textbox focus to start writting.

    3) When deleting a recording, if one of the 3 steps does not gets completed correctly show a red cross or something to make it more visual than the bold text.

    4) when adding a manual recording, once it is added, u end up in a page saying it has been successfull. then u need to hit back in explorer or reload the main page as there is no back button there. maybe show that message as a popup and go to tvguide directly.

    5) update web interface manual for MPRC2, with all the additional tools u have to install.

    bugs ??

    1) when deleting all recordings using web interface, the folder is also deleted, so no future recordings are done until u create the folder again.

BINGO! :D Now it downloads the zipped file and allows me to assign channels.

    KEV:
I installed all options (advanced install and select everything) from the MYSQL 5.0 windows installer as well as the Admin Tools on top of the Mediaportal 1.0 Rc2 install. Could you confirm the minimum additional install requirements on top of MP1RC2 and add that to your great installation/setup manual.

    Cheers!
