Windows Version: Vista ultimate (32 bit)
    CPU Type: quad pentium 2.4Ghz
    HDD: 2.7TB

    Remote: Microsoft MCE

    Hi Guys,

I'm running TV Server on a fresh install of Windows Vista Ultimate. Everything seems to be working well except ServerBlaster.

I've got the Microsoft MCE remote reciver connected and the system sees it (shows up as ehome receiver in device manager) but when I go to MCE Blaster Learn the 'learn' button is greyed out.

I've still got a copy of my old serverblaster.dat (from previous Win XP Pro install) but even when I place that in c:\program files\team mediaportal\mediaportal TV server\ AND c:\programdata\mediaportal TV Server\ the blaster doesn't do anything...

I'm (really) hoping this is an easy one - can anyone help me out?

    Thanks heaps :)

ServerBlaster will not work with Vista. Microsoft have changed the way the driver works and the method ServerBlaster uses is no longer supported.

For Vista there currently only exists one way to send IR signals outside of MCE, as far as I know. And it only works for 32-bit at the moment. You need to install the replacement driver and use software that supports the replacement driver.

I believe HIP, Girder and EventGhost would all work once the replacement driver is installed but I haven't tested those programs myself.

I've written some plugins that do the same as these programs and integrate with MediaPortal... take a look in the MCE Replacement Plugin sub-section for more information on the solutions that are available.

    Hope that helps,

This is not the thread to be discussing your problems with 64-bit Vista, there are other threads on the forum, try doing a search.

    Cheers,
