Just i just edit this somehwere and just copy it to a directory replacing the config ??

Tedious to do each key at a time. Would be nice just to edit the file.

Thanks.

Also does not seem to be working now. I think when i change a key it conflicts with another key using the same shortcut and don't work :(

Trying to get the colume,ff,rr, mute workign and none of them work. But the back button works just fine :)

Media Protal is worse than Linux.

You sure those shortcuts are right. I use the = key for mute and it raises the volume ????

Ive got the ff and rr and pause and stop working just fine. Would like the volume working as well and mute. Not sure what i have to use for them ???

Almost a working HTPC software config.

Any ideas.

I'll agree that HIP is not the most user-friendly program out there (but then again, I haven't come across any friendly remote-control interface software, except the pre-configured ones), but I'll take that over Linux's package/dependancy/driver/recompile-the-kernel hell anyday.

Here are my settings; hope they work for you:

Close HIP (make sure its not running in the system tray).

In C:\Program Files\HIP\HipHID.ini, replace your systemkey section with this (back up your INI file first, of course):
Code:
[SystemKey]
0|113.1=Key - UP	C_UP
0|115.1=Key - DOWN	C_DOWN
0|123.1=Left	{LEFT}
0|127.1=Right	{RIGHT}
0|126.1=Key - ENTER	C_OK
0|53.1=Volume Up!	VOLUP
0|37.1=Volume Down!	VOLDOWN
0|102.1=Run or Show: MediaPortal!	EXE1
0|43.1=1	#1
0|55.1=2	#2
0|59.1=3	#3
0|39.1=4	#4
0|112.1=5	#5
0|116.1=6	#6
0|104.1=7	#7
0|108.1=8	#8
0|120.1=9	#9
0|35.1=0	#0
0|119.1=System Mute!	MUTE
0|110.1=System Sleep!	C_SLEEP
0|105.1=Key - ESC	C_ESC

Do not remove any of the other text! only the stuff under the [SystemKeys] section.

Then create a new text file, paste the following in it, and save it as HTPC.hip (or whatever you want).
Code:
[SETUP]
Master=0
IRMaster=97
IRGirder=0
IRConfirm=1
IRKeyboard=0
OSDCaps=1
LCD=0
OSDSound=1
Webdings=1
Click=0

0|121.1=Y - Add/Remove Playlist	y
0|103.1=SPACE - Play/Pause	{SPACE}
0|33.1=r - Record	r
0|99.1=F5 - Rewind	{F5}
0|111.1=F6 - Fast Forward	{F6}
0|45.1=b - Stop	b
0|57.1=u - Parent Dir	u

0|49.1=PGUP - Page Up	{PGUP}
0|41.1=PGDN - Page Down	{PGDN}
0|122.1=! - Show video statistics	!1

Now go into HIP, goto File->Open Configuration and locate that HTPC.hip file you just saved.

This should work, assuming that the remote is exactly the same, and that your installation of MP is in the default location (C:\Program Files\Team Mediaportal\MediaPortal).

EDIT: Do not uninstall the FusionHDTV Remote software. Just make sure it is not running.

Ive given up on HIP for the time being. Iam just using the remote software i got with the card. And its working pretty good now.

Ive got FF/RR/Pause/Play Mute and the volume working and th eback key :)

Pretty much hands off keyboard running. Probably why i could not get HIP working before was becuase i uninstalled the Tners remote software. I seemed to be doing all what i was being told but no working. Guess it was not all down to my incompedence :)

I was told to uninstall it :)

Might give HIP a another go ina few days. That should be long enough for me to calm down and stop swearing. I agree Linux is hard. Iam just talking abou tinstalling ti and dtrying to do anything. This iwas about 4 years ago with me trying to install Redhat Linux. I have never been so frustrated and sad in my LIFE. I was &@&@&^*!*&!8ed with it.I got it in the end but still dont realy understand why it so un user freindly !!!!!

Thanks for the help. I still need to config it alittle more and do some special stuff with the remote. Just have to find the right keyboard code to do it with.

Thanks man very helpfull.
