Thanks so much for the file, marcsulf! I've been pulling my hair out trying to edit my own, to no avail.

I plugged your file in (couldn't edit the filename without corrupting the xml file, for some reason, so just copied an existing template and replaced the data). I was able to find the grabber file and map it, but when I ran WebEPG manually (this was the first time it actually created a file for me, so I figure I'm at least off to a good start), the TVGuide.xml file it generated didn't have any program data in it.

I'm just down the road from you in Nampa (fancy that! :D ), so I figured I just needed to change the zip code, am I correct in thinking that, or am I missing something?

Wow, I never would have guessed there were other MP users this close-by. I have a couple of questions that might help me debug your problem a little better:

  1. What do you mean when you say you "couldn't edit the filename without corrupting the xml file, for some reason, so just copied an existing template and replaced the data"? The xml files are just text files, and should be very easy to create and edit in notepad. That is what I do.
  2. When you say, "I was able to find the grabber file and map it", do you mean that you ran WebEPG-config and mapped the channels there, and then pressed save? (just making sure)

I'm guessing that the problem is related to my question #1, so the easiest thing for me would be to see your actual file. You can attach it to your response so that I can look at it. I'm attaching my actual file to this message, and you can try just using it directly. You shouldn't need to even change the zip code, since Nampa gets the same OTA stations as Boise. Just put it in the correct directory and then re-map and manually run WebEPG again.

Yeah, I was kinda surprised too. Nice to know there's at least someone in the Pacific NW even using this, though. :)

Regarding the xml files, I did edit them in notepad--and for some reason the edited files wouldn't show up when I tried to do the mapping in WebEPGconf.

Here's the really weird thing, I did download your file directly to the appropriate directory, didn't change a thing about it. I opened up WebEPGconf and the file didn't show up.

Just for kicks, I went in and edited just the filename (just made it "NEWwww_imdb_com_mod")...opened up WebEPGconf, and voila! It appeared.

So, there still were some configuration settings I didn't have quite right, so I disabled EPG Grabbing in the TV Server configuration, Unchecked "Allow this card to be used for EPG grabbing" under "edit card properties." Went back to the XmlTv plugin configuration page and unchecked "import files in new tvguide.lst," forced an import, and it imported 13 channels and 532 programs. Hooray!

...Go into MediaPortal....still "no data available" showing in the program guide. :(

Went back to the XmlTv plugin settings and refreshed the mappings. Saved them. Rebooted. Opened up MediaPortal...

Still no program data.

I did notice in another post someone had a similar issue...and their only fix was to uninstall MediaPortal and the TVServer, clean up the registry, and reinstall. I'd really like to avoid doing that if at all possible.

Have you checked to make sure that the path to your tvguide.xml file is set correctly for your TV server? I appologize if this is too obvious, but it's the only thing I could think of. BTW, I am using the in-built TV engine, rather than TV-server, so that is a difference that may be significant.

Guess I just wasn't patient enough--it's working now. You're a scholar and a gentleman! :D

Sorry to threadjack--but while you're on the topic of the TV Server, have you noticed any benefit of using the built-in TV engine? I got the impression during the install that the TV Server was "required" to play HD content. Is that true? Seems to me not having to run a server-client arrangement would be a lot less resource-intensive.

From what I understand, if you want HD, you need TV Server. I'm only running SD. I've got a digital converter box (controlled with an IR blaster) that feeds OTA digital TV into my Hauppauge PVR-150MCE, and then I feed my media center PC video to my 30" Toshiba in my living room via S-video out on my NVidia GeForce FX 5500. I used to get my OTA channels over satellite, but we've been cutting back on the budget this year, and satellite TV had to go. But I still wanted a good DVR, so I decided to build a media center PC on-the-cheap. I managed to build the entire system for $260.

does web epg still work in mp1.02

I have been trying to get web epg to work using the imdb site as in previous post. The webepg-conf program runs but doesnt have a button for importing chanells.
i was using xmltv and mc2xml until that stopped working so I thought i would give this a try. Does it still work with the new version 1.02?

I have no problem using the IMDB grabber on version 1.0.2 of Mediaportal and TV Server (I made the switch to TV Server after the 1.0.1 fiasco with TVE2). The Import button is right where it is supposed to be in webepg-conf (see this site for details). Do you have a screen shot of your webepg-conf window so that I can see what yours looks like?

Ok, I feel realy dumb now. i just had to enlarge the window of webepg-conf to expose the buttons. Thank you very much for replying that webepg works with ver 1.02. I had given up on webepg months ago and was using xmltv until that stopped working. I started off pretty pessimistic, but now I think I might get it to work.
Thanks again:D

Okay, I've setup the xml file as shown, but I am not sure how to make webEPG read the file in MediaPortal 1.1. There is no longer a webEPG-config.exe and the file structure is different than what is shown in the documentation. Anyone know how to link the file to the program?

Thanks
