Hi,

First of all : Thanks for that great plugin. I use it daily on 3 computers in my house.
I have been searching for a way to share my series db between those computers without any result.
According to what I read about this feature, it's not possible.

I've been thinking of a kinda work around, but it will work only if :

1- all your drives always use the same letter on every computer
ie D:\Movies will always show the same files on every computer.

2- You never watch series at the same time on different computers.

Each time an episode is watched (95% I think) an automated export of the watched list could be made.
Each time the My TV Series menu is accessed on a computer, that export could be imported.

It's simple but i sometimes do it manually and it works ok and fits my needs.

I guess it's not as perfect a solution as a shared db, but it can help some ppl.

:D

You pretty much summed it up, I think there is a guide somewhere in this forum explaining in more details.

Instead of sharing same drive letter, you would probably be better off using UNC paths e.g. \\server\share (this would get around any issues with mapped drive letters changing).

I have thought of adding support into creating a watched master list which can be exported after watching an episode to a central place and being read from the plugin on load which can merge it into the database so your watched/unwatched flags are kept in sync. It would need a bit more thought though, maybe something for 2.2.

A handy addition to this would be the ability to have multiple viewers as well. Then filter based on which users were selected as currently viewing. A way of selecting which users, from a list would then be added to the skin files.

I guess this would be best if it was actually Incorporated into a whole of mediaportal watched list though.

I am already sharing databases (as per the guide in the wiki) between 2 MP installs, I use UNC paths as ltfearme describes above. "watched" status is updated from both PC's under the TV-Series plugin.

I have not as yet run into any problems with sharing the database, though I note from elsewhere that it could possibly cause corruption if both try to access the db at the same time? is that correct?
