Shoutcast playback in Media Portal is here !

    WOW...thanks for the interest in this people!

    I love shoutcast and its great that it made its way to MediaPortal

    This is how u do it......

    1. Find the shoutcast source on sourceforge :
    http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=82303&package_id=84804

    2. Install it !
    NOTE: If u just have the .ax files and it doesnt self install..run this in a dos prompt in the directory of the .AX file to register the file:
    regsvr32 shoutcastsource.ax

    3. Run a http:// of a shoutcast in Windows Media Player 9 with "Play URL" to check if it installed correctly...if this doesnt work..u may need to reboot your PC

    4. Try in Media Portal : So far u can make an ASX file with the included http:// line eg:

    <ASX version = "3.0">

The 80's channel

    <Ref href = "http://64.236.34.161:80/stream/1040" />

    </ASX>

    Thanks MrMario64!

    :shock: I just can't figure out how to implement this =/

    In mediaplayer, there is a is a open url under the file menu, is that the one we are talking about?

    This bit is also something that is sailing right by my part of the brain that is set off for processing (0.02% today)

    <ASX version = "3.0">

The 80's channel

    <Ref href = "http://64.236.34.161:80/stream/1040" />

    </ASX>

    Where do I put this piece of code? And where would that show in MP?

    Thanks

    simply make a new file and put that in it.
    Like the .strm files for xbmc.

    CHange the URL as told above.
    This will all be better @ a later stage when we have my radio running.

    With the introduction of MY RADIO...playing shoutcast files is even easier.....all u need is the shoutcast source installed(from first post) and u can run the .pls files straight from www.shoutcast.com

    Horray!

    Probs with MediaPlayer9 in ShoutcastSource

    Hi thanks a lot for Posting this Thread, i think this is a very "cleanest Way" to Play Shoutcast Streams in MP.

    I'm not happy that M$ does not play shoutcasts without any extensions.

    By use of the K-Lite Codec Pack http://www.free-codecs.com/download/K_Lite_Codec_Pack.htm i have some Streams they work, on some other they did not.
    Normally i'am, happy with that Codec Pack (SHOUTcast Source [version 1.0.0.1]).

    I test streams with Open\Url or directly from MP, same Prob.

    Have someone a idea why MediaPlayer9 does have probs with some streams, or do you think that is my config....?

    I strongly suggest you don't install codec-packs.

    And it's not that bad that you need to install a codec to play a stream?
    it's a pretty normal thing.

    Hi sonic,

    I do also not know why these streams do not work (they also do not work on my machine). Perhaps theses are old adresses, because WMP says "cannot find file". In the playlist files of shoutcast there is often a list of servers, so take alook there.

    Working Groovesalad (i love this stream!):

    Working Smoothjazz (also nice!):

    Thanks your answer

    I do not understand why M$ (Microsoft) does not able to play shoutcast streams by default.
    I understand of course that i must install codecs.

    The question is why some streams work and other not ??? Have anybody same Problems or is it a config missmatch of my machine...?

    In MediaPlayer Open\Url http://64.236.34.4:80/stream/1005 work @ your machine...?

    Best Regards from Switzerland
