So I've tried everything to get MOV's to play.
Completey deleted mediaportal and did a fresh install. Removed all my codecs and reinstalled K-Lite and Quicktime alternative.

You installed K-Lite codec pack?
Perhaps thats the problem. You should not use ANY codec pack, since these packs installs a lot of different codecs and stuff for playing videos you only need one of them.
uninstall K-Lite. Only install ffdshow, QTLite (latest version!), Real Alternative and Matroska Splitter and you are done. If you want you can get the cyberlink dvd decoder for better quality and hardware acceleration for dvds.
MediaPortal then has everything it needs to play the files, but I would recommend to install MPC video decoder.

An easy way to install this and make sure everything is ok is by installing SAF:

I started from the config you mentioned... ffdshow, qtlite and matroska splitter. Same errors. I do not think I have a codec issue.

What is interesting is that the player will play MOV files (ie. if I select local content instead of streaming) they play fine - this is why I think I don't have a codec issue. I think the player can't find the file(s) or streams.

I think there is an issue with the file/ streaming function within showtime maybe? I posted the logs but I'm not too good at understanding the detail.

Also when I select 'download' trailers I get 25KB MOV files that are clearly not actual MOV files. I've attached one of these as well in my last post. When there is an actual MOV file it plays perfect.

I tried something new today. I installed mediaportal on a different computer (Vista this time). MyTrailers, and online trailers play perfectly (apple, flash, everything) - but showtimes does the same thing. When streaming is selected it won't play and when download trailers is selected it downloads 25kb 'text' files.

Here is my MTSA.LOG file for when I have download trailers check-marked. It does not download anything but it does create a folder full of 25kb files for some reason. Streaming does not work either (only in showtimes - online videos and mytrailers work perfectly). I also added a downloaded .mov file (renamed .txt) for the movie "9". I can't make heads or tails of the text in this file..

Hi,

the problem is that the Apple Trailer site doesn't allow anymore the streaming from outside Quicktime. I'm implementing a Video Proxy like MyTrailer (thanks to ArmandP)

Ok, so I think I get what's happening. The trailers are not actually downloading - its being blocked by Apple. All you end up getting is some XML file reference to the trailer. MP just gives some generic codec error when you try to play because it's not really a movie file. So its not a codec or MP install issue at all. Yay!

Is there any way to use the MTSA portion without installing Media Portal?

I'd like to schedule a nightly download of the latest trailers on my Windows Server which doesn't have MP on it?

Of course, just use the Windows Task Scheduler.
