Single analog tuner - two channels? (1 Viewer)

I was wondering about the following. Maybe someone can explain to me.

I can fully understand that a TV card with a single analog tuner can only "tune" to one channel at a time. Therefore only record one channel at a time.

However, if I also make use of the rca-line-in to directly link a video source, why am I still limited to one channel? I would think (wishfull thinking) that the tuner would still be able to "tune" one channel while the line-in could provide a second similtanious channel.

Is it a hardware limitation?

Yes - your TV card only has one analog to digital converter for the video, and this can be used by the TV channel or the video input, and not both at the same time.
