Is there anything implemented, or planned to be implemented, to have a time skip that auto skips the intros to shows?
I generally love the intros (that's sorta my job), but if I'm watching a whole season of a show and it has a 2:08 intro, that just gets annoying after a while.
Every intro for a show is generally the same length, but not always an even 15,30,45 seconds.
And even then, I have my forward skips set up to 5,15,30,1min increments, so i have to press it a few times to get it perfect and by then the intro has been playing for a few seconds.

Yes, I know, very taxing :D

Just thought it'd be cool to have some sort of shortcut for TV Shows that you pressed and it automatically skipped the exact length needed. I guess this would have to be set up manually since it's not in thetvdb or anything, but once you set it for a show once, you're good.

Thoughts?

    Hi filetree

You could set your "big" jump (the up/down key jump) to match the length of the intros...

    1. Open up MP configuration.
    2. Go to the GUI -> Skip Step section.
    3. Configure the "immediate" skip to be constant time (rather than relative %) and then set the time to the desired value.

Would that work, or do you use that skip size for something else?

Not many shows share the same intro length.

However you have 2 skip methods in MediaPortal.

Left/Right arrows are assigned to the skip steps that you already configured.

But there is also the up/down arrows control. You can preset that one to a constant of 128 seconds to match your shows intro length.

This still gives you step control to skip other parts, and single button up-arrow to get past your intro.

Is the possible to change for each different show though?
Or would that be constant throughout everything?

It would be as the name implies a constant value. However if you calculate the % the intro is on total runtime of the episode, you'll find that it sometimes comes down to a pretty consistent value that is the same amongst many shows that have an intro. It is also 'instant', as in no GUI delay to allow you to press button multiple time to adjust value as with the left/right skip-steps.

So if you use say a constant of 32 seconds, then 4x up real quick gets you 2m08s into your show to skip intro, but on a show with a shorter intro you only press it once or twice.

You can also use 5%, then on a 42 minute episode it skips 2m06s, but on a 21minute episode it skips 63 seconds.

mm1352000, can we override this on the API level in MediaPortal?

If we were to expose a field for each series that user can enter a skip value, we could set this on playback so it could take affect.
