DJBlu: Thanks for the info. The layout matches up with what I see here in NZ, haven't tried it with my Oz mates yet.

The channel description in the TXT file - did you get that out of the bouquet as well. You mentioned something about a Huffman encoded channel name in the earlier post but I've always used the one in the SDT.

When I document all these protocols can I put you on my (very short) mailing list for filling in the blanks/reviewing contents etc?

Steve

Yer no problems.

The channel descriptions are at the end of the Channel in the SDT and are encoded in huffman(Search for 0x5F and you'll see it). The huffman table used is normally the same as the Title/Summary Table.

If you want to ask questions then PM me your IM details and I'll happily answer your questions, if we can sort out a time that suits us both. :D

    Hi all,

RC5 is out - is there an update to the tswriter.ax file with RC5?

Therefore we need an updated version? (I haven't checked yet)

    Many thanks,

    J.

    Hi again,

It looks likes RC5's tswriter is the same as the RC4 version.

Hi DJBlue, firstly i'd like to say thanks for this awesome workaround to the Freesat EPG problem. I'm new to DVB-S and was gutted when i discovered that the guide wouldn't populate - and then i came across this forum thread and i thought it was pure genious!

Anway, like other contributors to this thread, your modified TSWriter.ax file prevents my DVB-T scan from working properly (NOVA-T USB Stick). I can get around the problem by reverting to the original TSWriter file for DVB-T scanning, but i just wondered if this is something that could be fixed in your modified file?

If you just want the Freesat EPG then you don't need any modified files - this part of DJBlu's code was put into the normal MP release a few versions ago. You just need to select the two radio channels for the EPG grabbing (one is called EPG Background and one is Freesat Info, or something like that)

AFAIK, the only reason now to use the updated tswriter is for Sky subscription stuff. For Freesat the normal released MP works fine. I think there's also a quick channel scanning feature in the new code, but it's not essential - the normal scan works fine.

Thanks for the info Rob - i'll reinstate the original TSWriter file then and see what happens. When i was using the original TSWriter file previously, i wasn't grabbing the EPG from "EPG Audio Background" and "Freesat Info" channels, so this will be why my EPG wasn't populating then!

"Food Network" and "Food Network+1" are missing from the Freesat and Sky EPG but the rest of channels are showing fine. Anyone know a fix for it?

Delete and rescan the transponders with the channels on them, and wait for the next EPG grab.

That Said I keep going back to the RC1 because it ( nothing to do with the EPG grabber by the way) Every time something seems to get fix something else if getting broken. Currently I have to keep going back to RC1 to best avoid jerky TV viewing.

From a Development point of view I bet you guys cannot wait for MP2. it should be soo much better not having to change your EPG grabbing code unless something major happens, not because someone has tweaked the TV server of TS writer.
