    Hi pisdu,

If you have it set to 3600 minutes, it will only update the EPG every 2.5 days (are you getting confused with seconds maybe?). I usually find the best setting is either 720 (every 12 hours) or 1440 (24 hours)

    Hi,

Sorry I dont think MP has the functionality to wake up the pc when an EPG grab is due. I think it can only do this for scheduled recordings. Ive never used the powerscheduler plugin, but it might be able to help with this.

    Hi guys,

I posted up a new thread in the TV server section of the forum that is about a problem I am experiencing; after posting I realised it may be more pertinent to stick it in here as I am using the modified grabber TV server so it is possible I woudn't get any support on the main forum.

When I turn on the TV PC and select a TV channel I get an error box popping up saying "No Free Card Available" and the only method I have found to overcome this is to reinstall the TV server part of the grabber. After reinstall it works great again. I don't know if this is related to something happening on shutdown, or something happening on start up - for those who understand them, I attach the lastest logs from tsreader shutdown & MP start up.

    Hi there,

It can wake up the HTPC for EPG grabbing - You need to enable this in Powerscheduler - and specify what time/duration to do it for.

I personally don't bother waking the HTPC, I find it has enough oppurtunities in the background to perform a grab during normal use.

Porky, We will need your TVServer log file too. It probably won't fix anything, but you might consider applying some MS fixes/patches ;-)

Do you get this with the plugins disabled (like iPimp)?

    J.

    Hi,

Could you post your tvservice logs as well. Ive had this problem a few times. The problem was MP started thinking it was running in a master/slave server setup which isnt supported (some kind of old code kicking in).

I have 2 NICs with different IP addresses (one connecting to my LAN and one connecting to my linux slug that handles my viewing card). For some reason tvservice occasionally starts listening on the wrong ip address and this seems to be when it gets confused. I think you can correct it by deleting a record in the database. I'll have a look later

    Thanks for that Miroslav.

I have found out that if I stop the TV service via taskmanager, and allow MP to restart it the problem vanishes.

I couldn't find a log called "TVService" so I hope some of thesee attached may be of use....

    Hi there,

Quick thank you to all involved. Tried Sky EPG grabber out at the weekend, grabbed EPG very quickly.
Absolutely fantastic compared to the recent unreliability of Radio Time website. In addition, less gaps in EPG data and changing channels greatly speeded up with Gibmans patch incorporated. Tried for several hours over weekend, no crashes! Only thing to sort now is getting codec's right for HD channels.

If of use to anyone else, here's what worked for me:

    - Fresh installs of Windows XP SP3 on Client and Server.
    - Obligatory megabytes of Windows Updates to both machines.
    - Installed DVB fix patch on TV Server machine.
    - Mediaportal 1.1.0 install - TV Server only on Server, MP Client only on Client.
    - SAF 4.00 final install on MP Client only.
    - Installed miroslav22 patch over TV Server. Note I did not run miroslav22's MediaPortal installer on TV Server. Expected to get version mismatch error, but all seems OK.
    - Followed Jobyrne30's TV Server setup instructions.

Again thanks to all, hope these patches make it into final MP soon!

Yes this is the exact same problem I had a couple of times. I'll try and remember what I did to fix it
