all versions since 1.0.2 have been unstable even without any plugins - frequent unable to play live ts buffer errors, random (and fequent) tvserver crashes, random lockups of MP frontend only, tvserver goes none responsive but still running - in short it's a pain to use

all from a clean install (OS in most cases) so not upgrade issues etc

add in mdapi and it means sometimes I can spend more time getting it to actually display tv than I actually watch tv for

using mp1.0.2 the same setup works flawlessly and reliably - the only thing I was missing was dvb-s epg

so I dont know what they changed but it's made more recent versions of MP so irritating that they rarely last more than a day before they annoy me enough to uninstall and go back to mp1.0.2 - and after a few weeks webepg bugs me enough to try whatever the current version is again

I've been using MP since 0.2.3 so, whilst not terribly tech on it, I do know how to set it up and am familar with it's little foibles so it's not new user cant get it to work syndrome

the only functional loss in using MP1.0.2 over 1.1.1 is for some reason I effectivley lose FreeSat HD channels - they work fine in 1.1.1 but in 1.02 I get a zoomed image of the top left of the picture only - using the same codecs and settings as work with 1.1.1 - this is a perfectly acceptable tradeoff to get a system that actually works IMO - tho I am vaguely interested in why it occurs - as BBC HD at least used to work in MP1.0.2 on dvb-s

She even now knows what to do in the morning when the TV has been switched off and Windows 7 has made MP go into a box in the top left, although I have a HDMI Detective on the way to resolve this..

Care to share, I usually just restart MP

Sorry, yes that is what she does - restarts the box, and then runs Mediaportal again..

It's a real pain with Windows 7 TBH...

I found codec selection was route cause to all my problems with the TV server. After much experimenting on my test HTPC machine I've now got a nice smooth set-up with MP 1.1.1 on my working HTPC's.

But if you're happy with your set-up as it is now then I suggest you live by the old saying "if it ain't broke don't fix it". To be honest I don't think I'll be switching from my current set-up for a long time and If I had been unable to get a stable set-up with MP 1.1.1 I would have been happy to stay with my old MP 1.02 set-up which worked fine too.

Windows 7 SP1 includes some significant HDMI enhancements when using it with a TV. Hopefully that may fix your problem

I don't understand this?

My missus is a pain when it comes to change, but even she can use MP now on version 1.2.0 with the Miroslav/DJBlu SVN installed.

She even now knows what to do in the morning when the TV has been switched off and Windows 7 has made MP go into a box in the top left, although I have a HDMI Detective on the way to resolve this..

Now that is wierd!........has she been taking any tablets, paying for tuition or has her coffee mornings with the girls gone all technical!.........please let me know asap so I can have my wife follow the same.

Use the Radio EPG grabber to grab the channel "EPG background audio" for the sky UK epg.

I just tried this but the TV Service stops just a few seconds after it's started. Going back to my original TsWriter.ax and it's fine.

Ahhh, wait a minute, that version ain't for MP 1.1.1.0.

I'm desperate to get Sky sourced EPG data working.....can anyone point me to the 1.1.1.0 version?....just the ax, as I don't want the full install. Or, maybe I can install on a 2nd PC just to get to the .ax assuming thats the only file I need.

Anyone confirm?

which is supposed to be the current versions thread - it mentions 1.1.1 anyway lol

edit - I'd assume there is a reason why it's packaged as an installer rather than a single file - I have no idea what that would be but I'd assume it's a good one - from memory it does however work brillantly - I just couldnt get on with MP1.1.1 itself

Hi all,

Just upgraded to 1.2.0 (to fix other issues), and now SKY epg grab isn't working so I presume the DLL's were overwritten. I've tried 1.1.1 version .tx/DLL's again but it doesn't appear to be working.
Is there 1.2.0 versions available?
