yeah mate... in the tvserver config, go to radio channels, and radio epg grabber... select the EPG Background Audio entry, and English as your language...

Then start up mediaportal and go get a coffee... let it do its thing and it will pull in the epg data for you

I have it working now.. not sure if the import has finished as some channels dont have any epg data yet (sports 3, setanta chans and others for example) so I will leave it a bit more time and see what happens.

Wait another 40mins, If you've got data on some of the channels the database is being updated. Its this that takes the time.

The grab of the info takes 2-3 mins.
The database update 55-60mins. I have mine set to update every 24 hours.

quick update guys - my tvserver service seems to stop itself every now and then when im using this. anyone else fancing similar issues?

latest svn of rc3 and have 2008 runtimes installed.

how do you set the update period to 24 hours? I didnt think I saw anything where that could be configured?

General Settings -> EPG -> Refresh every 1440 mins(24hrs)

Sorry for another thick question but do you have to have TV turned on or off in MediaPortal for it to update?

If you are watching the TV(With only 1 TV Card) then it will not update as the TV Server has to be tuned into the EPG Background Channel/Alice/Brit Shorts.

If you have 2 tuner cards then you should in theory be able to watch a channel and grab the epg from the other card.

my other channels have still not pulled in... but I just noticed when setting the 24 hours update that i had a 10 min timeout set... could it have stopped it importing after 10 minutes and not done the rest? Should I put this setting further out?

Thats the Grabber Timeout not the update timeout.

Check your Log directory, if your EPG log file has said it has finished importing then you might have to manually Refresh the EPG in the TV Server configuration.

Manual Control -> Refresh DVB EPG.

Hi DJBlu

I am still trying to get this working, have updated Visual C++ to 2008 and can now get a picture on the screen however I cant seem to tune into the EPG Background Audio channel all I get is Unable to Start Timeshifting no video/audio detected.

This channels is selected in Radio EPG Grabber with English also selected,EPG Grabbing whist timeshifting is also off.

Other channels seem to be ok.

Suggest all is well.

Do me a favour, go into your TV Server Setup

Click Manual Control --> Refresh DVB EPG. This will clear all EPG in the database and will start a fresh. My bad, should have wrote it in the instructions.

You don't need to tune to the channel as TV Server will do this automatically when required.
