errrm, I too had not selected my channels in the epg grabber, et voila too!

I'm a simple soul so when it said select brit shorts in the epg grabber thats what I selected and only that, but it seems you need to select the channels you want too.

I 'm very excited to have this working, thank you very much

i think i must be doing something wrong, my guide isn't updating. I moved in the tswriter, did a scan, then selected only britshorts in the epg grabber and refreshed it but no luck. Should I also select the channels I want grabbed in the epg grabber or do I only need to select brit shorts?
There seems to be a bit of confusion on this- I only selected "EPG Background Audio" in the Radio EPG Grabber and didn't select BritShorts or any other channels in the TV or Radio EPG Grabber and it all worked fine for me with 7 days of EPG for all my channels. DJBlu can you confirm what difference selecting BritShorts makes or does it do basically the same thing as EPG Background Audio?

no i don't know why it snot working, had to concede defeat and attach my logs.

thank you for your time if you do find some to look at this.

Looking at your logs.

You need to select the option "Allow this channel to update other channels"

The difference is

Brit Shorts grabs Freesat (EIT with huffman)
EPG Audio grabs Sky UK EPG (OpenTV EPG with Huffman)

They will both fill a few channels that are on the same Service ID.

So is it necessary to have them both selected or do they conflict with each other? I haven't noticed many channels without EPG using "EPG Background audio" apart from a few obscure Asian channels and "Vegas Elvis" which I presume does not need EPG data. Having said that I haven't noticed any EPG data for radio channels - if I go into radio and click guide it just brings up the TV guide?

That's why Britshorts needs to be selected too as there is no EPG carried for the Radio channels on Sky's EPG.

If you have EPG Audio and BritShorts selected then they won't conflict as the channel last update field will be set and the EPG grab from the second channel will not update it.

Thanks, that clears things up. It is pretty amazing then that we now have the best of both worlds, Sky and Freesat!:cool:

Hi Developers

Me again

Just looking through the code of the

TV Business Layer & TV Database and ....

I noticed this

In TV Database _ EpgDBUpdater.cs _ IsInsertAllowed

Log.Epg("{0}: no channel found for networkid:0x{1:X} transportid:0x{2:X} serviceid:0x{3:X}", _grabberName, dvbChannel.NetworkId, dvbChannel.TransportId, dvbChannel.ServiceId);

foreach (EpgProgram ei in epgChannel.Programs)
{
string title = "";
if (ei.Text.Count > 0)
title = ei.Text[0].Title;
Log.Epg(" -> {0}-{1} {2}", ei.StartTime, ei.EndTime, title);
}
return null;

This is causing the EPG log size to go through the roof(slight exageration) with the Sky EPG. Wondering if it would be easier to just say the count of programs missed instead of showing every title.

maybe change to this?

Log.Epg("{0}: no channel found for networkid:0x{1:X} transportid:0x{2:X} serviceid:0x{3:X}", _grabberName, dvbChannel.NetworkId, dvbChannel.TransportId, dvbChannel.ServiceId);
Log.Epg("{0} titles not inserted", epgChannel.Programs.Count);

Oh and the

sqlCmd.Prepare()

why was this commented out?

Speeds things up a treat! :D

    Hi DJBlue,

    your TSWriter works great. It takes about 20 minutes for me to have italian Sky guide fully populated.

    Is it also possible for you to recompile for latest SVN?

    Thanks

    DJBlu - this is continuing to work great - really appreciate your help and efforts here!

    Just wondered how discussions are going with the devs to get this properly adopted into MP 1.0? Would be a fantastic standard feature imo and good recognition of your solid work here.
