Going back to my post re Men & Motors EPG missing - it turned out M&M had utterly moved (different frequency, polarity, everything!) and for some reason the auto scan didn't pick that up. No idea why (that's another matter), but entering the tuning parameters manually has fixed it. Nothing to do with the EPG mod.

Hi,

The way channels are found to map the EPG is to get the following.

SID - Service ID
TID - Transport ID
NID - Network ID

If any one of these 3 changes then the EPG will not map hence the reason for the channel scans. If mediaportal isn't updating these then it needs to be highlighted as a bug.

do you know how the channelid, sid/tid/nid and skynumber hang together
we are trying to work out how the regional variations stuff is done

we have noticed that the channelid seems to indicate region:

there is a pattern to the channel ids
125x is the irish stations
162x is channel4
2000+ is bbc (although no obvious pattern)
33xx is channel4s other channels
36xx is setanta
6xxx is itv

just wondering if you had any insight into this

PS channel id is (Data[p3 + 3] << 8) | Data[p3 + 4] in the BAT with descriptor 0xb1
it is all in the code on sf.net/projects/tvgrabeit (to be renamed tvgrabdvbplus when sf get around to it)
Can u add me to msn and I'll explain how to set the regions.

p.s. Its nothing to do with the ID's, this is what took me hours.

This will solve your 9xx channels.

sky uk to xmltv

Hi this may be a little retro, but I've got what I think is an early copy of openepg to XMLTV and it had a little dialogue box to put your card in, but was labelled as work in progress an wasn't functioning, am I right in assuming it was for choosing the tv card and then, when set up, create an xmltv file . I did try to look on your site but registrations are disabled at this time. What I am trying to do is get the sky (uk) epg from the satellite put it into an xmltv format to upload to my mediacenter (Windows 7), I have got something to do the last part, but not the first! Did you ever get that bit working?

There was no requirement to do this as it linked into DVBViewer and I modified the TSWriter so I gave up on the idea.

Well, I fixed my channel 4 problem.

I basically cleared the channel list completely (and deleted them from the SQL Server DB too :)) and then did a re-scan.

Now I only have one Channel 4 (plus the (1), (2) etc ones) and the EPG is populating fine.

I might do this "flush" every once in a while to avoid the channel list clogging up with chod... :)

Hi DJBlu, I'm using your plugin from a some months and I must thank you for your fantastic job.
EPG was a real pain for me be but now it works flawlessly.
I wanted to ask if it would be possible to add a feature, disable EPG grabbing for some channels.
This could sound a strange request but of course there is a reason. In Italy Sky provides EPG for its channels bouquet but also for other channels available as FTA, such as RAI and MEDIASET.
EPG for those channels is not accurate, e.g. it says just "Film" and not the film title.
Of course this is a Sky decision, they want people to watch Pay-TV channels and not FTA so they can get more money with commercial.
My idea was to use WEBEPG for RAI and Mediaset and your plugin for the other channels.
Do you thik it would be possible?

I have a question that may already have been answered in this thread but its so big I'll ask.

If I have DVB-T and DVB-S do I just select all the DVB-T channels in the EPG select and the Brit Shorts channel on the DVB-S? There's a few chan's that are on DVB-T that are not on DVB-S.

    Hello

I've been following this guide to get an EGP over freesat using my DVB-S box.

However, I can't seem to find the Brit Shorts channel, as mentioned in the documention from this thread. I've read elsewhere that the channel has been renamed as Shorts TV on Sky, but it is marked as encrypted in Mediaportal.

Any idea whats wrong or can somone post the info so I can manually add the channel?

I have manage to get all the other freesat channels (BBC 1-HD and all the Channel 4 varietns etc) so the DVB-S box and TV Server setup is working fine.

    Thanks in advance.
