I Know this may sound stupid but you have downloaded the modified TSWriter.ax file from the beginning of this thread and replaced the TSWriter.ax in MP TV Server haven't you. I ask because this sounds like what happens when you have the standard TSWriter installed, also remember that you have to replace the TSWriter.ax file every time you install an SVN, as the SVN will overwrite DJBlu's modified one with a standard one.
As I have RC4 installed I have copied in the version from page 24 of this thread is that correct?

OK good news, I suspected that something was wrong with the PC as the EPG update to DVBviewer has also dissapeared.
I have now reimaged my machine and reinstalled MP and I now have 1 days EPG but no channel five, I have BritShorts enabled so just waiting for that channel to update.
Time to image my PC with the working version, phew!

The only thing I did differently was to scan for channels on both DVB-S tuners on my Pinnacle 7010ix card (6 in 1), could that have been the problem?
In effect I did a complete scan on both tuners and the second scan just updated the first results, just might be worth doing for any other users having a problem. I also notice that when scanning for a second time (it was after creating my channel groups) it found the channels added to groups as new channels is that normal?

SPV4U can you possibly give a step-by-step of what you did to get this freesat epg operational for you on RC4?
Like you I am new to MP, and I have used the 1.0RC4 as being the recommend newbie download.
I've tried following the (spread around a lot) instructions in this thread, I've ended up with a sytem where MP won't run at all now. Am contemplating 4th reinstall in 4 days :-(

OK here goes,
After numerous issues I imaged my PC back to before install state then completed the following. (If you dont have an image I would suggest removing MP and SQL 2005 and rebooting)
1) Installed SQL 2005 express manually by downloading from MS website (its free) during install select mixed mode and enter your sa password.
2) Installed MP 1.0RC4
3) Copied the patched files for RC4 to the TV Server directory under program files, this will overwrite the tswriter file and add the two extra files.
4) Run the TV Server using the desktop shortcut, answer yes to start SQL Browser (you may not get prompted for this) and yes to start TV Server service
5) Under servers you will see your hardware, configure the dvb-s for the correct sat (Astra 2D)
6) Select scan channels and wait, I have a dual tuner card so I scanned on 1 waited for it to finish and then setup and scanned the second tuner.
7) Under Channels I added a Group called Interactive and added the BBC Interactive streams but more importantly BritShorts
8) Under radio I created another group called epg and added the channel EPG radio ....
9) Configured all my other settings in TV server and then closed the manager.
10) Configure the rest of the frontend app
11) Rebooted and waited
Remember to check the system time and date, sounds stupid but if its out you wont see your epg as the dates wont match!!!

Thanks for your addition.
So the date being incorrect was the reason for your EPG not showing?
If you want to populate all channels on 28.2e then make sure you use the Radio Channel "EPG Audio Background" selected.
"BritShorts" will only grab the Freesat channels.
P.S. I am still trying to figure out the series link information. Will report back when I find more.

by the way, which exact list version of the sat scan do you do? Astra 28.2E + eurobird 28.5, Freesat 28.2 or Setanta 28.2? I have done freesat 28.2E, as thats what we are trying to get, right?
I followed SPV4U instructions (more-or-less, I did MP1.0RC4 default HD one-click install onto a clean vista image with only display drivers installed, then followed his list). I have selected brit-shorts and the stream-N channels in the tv-server->channels->epg grabber and I AM GETTING AN EPG. So far it only seems to go forward about 6 hours, but its on all the DVB-S channels (that I have in my front-ends guide view, anyway) apart from the STREAM-N ones. So its working, its definately not the old dvb-s now-next.
Why do you suggest to EPG-grab also from the stream-N channels? I thought from other posts, it was britshorts only?
I don't have a radio channel called EPG audio background, but I can live without radio EPG. TV much more important.

- EPG on the DVB-S is program title only. No program information. Is this the expected behaviour?
- All the EPG for my DVB-T channels (freeview) has gone. This was working before,using EPG grab with all those channels selected. I notice if I watch "manual control" in TV-server-config app, it often says "grabbing EPG" from one of my DVB-S tuner. It never seems to say "grabbing EPG" from my DVB-T tuners any more? Does this modification break DVB-T EPG? I have not combined any channels yet to try to keep this debuggable.

This will only grab channels that are on DVB-S as it finds the channels from the Network ID/Service ID and Transport ID. If you want to use DVB-T then you must carry on the way you did before as this will not fill in the epg for terrestrial channels.
Can you upload your Log Files in a zip file so I can take a look at what is going on too.

The only channel you need to select in the EPG Grabber is "Brit Shorts" for freesat channels.

dvb-s freesat epg is now working well (didn't change it , just shutdown htpc, went to bed, booted it this morning and its looking much better). around a weeks worth of data, with full program info on most channels.

There are a couple of sky italy channels that are not updated with the guide, for instance GXT and Sky Sport 24 (GXT +1 works). What could the cause be?
I don't find anything in the logs regarding this channels...
