You can, thats what I use - in the tvserver config->plugins->for the record Recorder/Tuner tick both the boxes in the DVB-EPG section, I set the refresh for every 6hrs.
Setup and run TSWriter as per normal and 4tr will update from the TV database - is can take a few hrs before 4tr gets all the data...some patience required

I'm having problems using TsWriter.ax, if I use the version from Page 1 of this thread I can not watch TV. If I select a channel from the EPG it simply hangs. If I revert back to using the orignal version I can watch TV no problem. I have attached some logs if they help.

I think the first post contains a TSwriter for the recent svn, perhaps this doesn't work with 1.0 final release - I don't know because I haven't tried. DJBlu would it be possible to maintain a version for the 1.0 release? I won't be upgrading now until the 1.0.1 release.
For those who read above regarding ITV HD - the placeholder is back on ITV HD and the modified TSwriter for the 1.0 release still works fine on ITV HD.

I'm still having a problem with my epg getting out of date... Basically it seems as though the TV server does not notice that it is idle. I run with my PC on all of the time (I can't get the wake up from suspend stuff to work reliably). If I just leave my system untouched it just does not seem to grab the epg (even though it is idle - the logs show it doing nothing for many hours each night). However the moment I try and look at the problem by running the TVServer admin console this seems to wake things up and it will immediately go and do a grab...
So is anyone else having this problem. Is there anyone else running the same sort of setup (constantly running TVserver, with no plug ins enabled)? Anyone got any suggestions as to what I could do... It looks as if I could give my tvserver a kick in the middle of the night then it would wake up and do the grab ok....

Andy,
I think you need to ask the devs about this one as it isn't a fault with the part of the TSWriter I have modded. This is a problem within the TVService itself.
I'm sure if you log it as a bug m8 it will get looked at as there is nothing I can do to help, without modding the TVService myself which I wouldn't like to do.

P.S. I have noticed this too, Only when I open the TV Server configuration does it spring into life. Weird.

Thanks for the feedback... Yes I suspected it was probably a general problem rather than anything to do with the epg grabber. However i suspect that the devs may well say "Well you are using a non standard grabber so...", (and I can't really blame them for that), so I thought I would check here first!
Also I was wondering if anyone was using any sort of plug in or whatever that might kick the tv server into life from time to time and trigger an epg grab... It would be nice to have it working while I wait to see if the devs can sort out what is going on...

Let them know it does it with the TSWriter unmodified too as I have Premiere grabs too and it does the same there.
djblu just want to say thanks again for this awesome plugin.
now this is getting to be well into beta quality i thought I'd report a couple of possible minor bugs
something I just noticed whilst browsing - Film4 today (14th) film Volver - the information has a couple of odd characters appearing - the 2nd A in (Pedro) "almodavar" and the 2nd E in "Penelope" (cruz) appear as A (with a twiddle on top followed by superscript 3 and copyright symbol respectively). I guess this is parsing error non-english characters or something?
some of the +1 channels pick up full program info for me all the ITV's, E4, C4, More 4, Film 4 are ok. movies 4 men +1 and movies 4 men 2 +1 only display program titles (no program info) but the info is there on the non +1 version. travel channel and travel channel 2 are also without program info.
