Skype call number

Hi there.
Thanks for this cool skype plugin ... is nice.
I have just one thing that dosent work. That is when activating skype out. It works fine to select one of my stored outgoing numbers, but when choosing call number, the system gets stucked in that possision, and I have to turn off thee media portal. When stucked in this posission, I am not able to press/dial any numbers, and notting happens when choosing the call buttom or close.
Anybodu that can help med out with this one ?

Regards Gertihj

Hi - glad you like it!

I assume you're running the latest versions of everything (Skype, MP, the plugin etc), and have a positive Skype credit balance :) ?

Can you see anything in the log file that might be related (or send me a PM with it attached so I can have a qick look?) - look for the tag "SP->" for plugin-related messages?

Hi
I have downloaded the latest skype version and installed it with extra options.
I have media portal 2.3 RC, and plugin V. Skype4MPv0110.exe (thats the newest version I have found). Yes my skype credit is positive as well, and I can make skype out calls by calling preadded skype out numbers.

When choosing this option "call number" the error log looks like this:

Hi Testerboy, THANKS a lot on that tip regarding the wrapper and indeed, the reason was that I didn't check the 'Update Skype Extras Manager' so it was immediately solved doing so.

Are you one of the members of the MP team?
In the past I have made some suggestions regarding documentation, plugins and still the obsolete Skype4MP.rar is listed in the plugin section with dead links.
I have not been here for quite some time and I don't know if there has been any change of direction regarding skype & MP, does it make any sense to keep this outdated guide online?

    Peter2 -

No, I'm just a concerned citizen trying to give something back to the community... :)

I'm not sure what you mean by a "change of direction" - my intention is to allow Skype to function as well as possible with MP, and will continue to update it as time permits.

Gertihj - I've been working on the "Call number" problem - it's getting closer to a resolution now - hopefully a new version in 1-2 days...

    Hi all,

I have tried today this nice plugin for the first time and, although I have followed all the instructions above, I still have some troubles to use it.

In MP, I cannot see my status and if I try to change it, nothing happens.
I can see the list of contacts, but when I try to call one of them, nothing happens.
It seems to be connected to Skype (I had to acknowledge the permission request), but something is still hanging.

I have found the errors in the log file enclosed.
Any idea of the possible cause?
    Thanks for helping.

    Version 0.1.1.1 is released...

    Note: Superceded by 0.1.1.2 - see https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/showpost.php?p=207342&postcount=177

Requires MediaPortal 0.2.3.0 (final), and later versions of Skype (3.2+ should be fine), with the Extras Manager installed.

    V0.1.1.1:

    1. Fixed the problem with the SkypeOut "Call Number" option.

1a. If you have no Skype Credit, the SkypeOut context menu doesn't appear (since there's nothing you can do from it anyway).

    2. Added config options to allow the Plugin to ignore Chat and/or Voice calls if you have another way to handle them (e.g. DualPhone).

As always, report bugs etc here please. It always helps to include logs - if you filter the MediaPortal log file on the string "SP->" it will only include the messages related to the plugin.

    Notes:

    1. You need to install the Extras Manager when installing Skype - this will install the Skype4COM wrapper required. Alternatively, you can download Skype4COM from the Skype website at https://developer.skype.com/Docs/Skype4COM

    2. Vista: On Vista, MediaPortal and Skype have to run at the same Integrity Level. Since MP runs as Administrator, this means that the best way to start Skype is to let MP do it (either automatically at start up, or on demand from the plugin).

    3. Vista: If you have a Skype phone (e.g. Philips VOIP321), you have to make sure that its drivers are also running as administrator (since MP has to anyway). Otherwise, the phone will not be able to connect to Skype.

Gertihj - V0.1.1.1 should fix the SkypeOut problem for you - let me know how you get on...

    Archimede -

    1. I assume you're using a version of Skype greater than 3.1, if not the most recent (3.6.x.x)? 3.1+ is required for the Avatars to work...

    2. To confirm that the plugin is connected to Skype, go to the Skype Client, select Tools/Options/Advanced and click "Manage other programs' access to Skype". You should see "MediaPortal.exe"/Allowed to use Skype.

    3. You could check that there's a directory in <MediaPortal>\plugins\Windows\SkypeAvatars and that the user running MP has full access to it, although I'd expect to get an error when writing to it if that wasn't the case...

    4. If this is all good, please upgrade to V0.1.1.1 of the plugin and try again (you'll (probably) have to re-authorise the Skype access) - the log from this version may give a bit more info (specifically the versions of everything being used - Skype, Skype4COM, and the plugin) that might be useful.

    Hi TesterBoy,
first of all: thanks for the support ;-)

    1. Yes.
    Skype 3.6.0.216

    2. Done.
It is connected, as from the picture enclosed (skype_link).

    3. Done.
The directory is present and there is only one user configured, which is administrator and can access everything.

    4. Done.
There are much less errors now!
The situation is a bit better: I succeeded to call a contact, but my status is still wrong.
Just a simple and silly question: how do you close a call? There is no button to press!
(see also the other 2 snapshots)

Btw, is it possible to use the webcam?
