No improvement in 0.1.3.0 pre

Hello Frodo,

I tried 0.1.3.0 pre, but I couldn't figure any improvements in speed when browsing through my albums, opposed to the announcement in the changelog

Bye,
Tomcat.

folder.jpg

Hi there

I have 1 folder.jpg in each music album folder. I can see covers only if i switch to "1 Shares" view.
If i switch to "Albums" for example i cant see any cover, but when i get into the album i see a small cover for each song.

Do i need to configure something else?
I´ve tried to solve this reading other posts.. but with no success

Thanks
sergio

I think this issue is the one I'm trying to find a solution to, and for me it spans both music albums and also my movies when I have folder.jpg files in them as well.

Is there a fix for this? Is it doing some thumbnail building every time it enters the screen or something?

I made 20 folders and each one contains a folder.jpg.

It makes MP pretty slow, but this needs some more testing.
Currently I have jpgs of 35k in the folder.
I believe MP should handle it imho.

(perhaps create smaller versions as we also do when we extract art from audio files)

    Perhaps some caching..

anyway, I'll bring it under the attention of the devs as this is not good as it is now.

I seem to be having the same problem. with no cover art on any of the albums, browing is super fast, but as soon as I loaded all my album art in the folders as "folder.jpg" browsing mymusic slows way down. I am assuming this is because it needs to load all the jpegs for each folder as it is being shown. It also needs to pull them across the network. Any one have any ideas of how to speed this up? Some caching the folder.jpg on the actual media portal machine as opposed to the network share where the music is located, would be great. Any other ideas?

just realized MP does store the album art on the local machin in the thumbs folder, so pulling the cover art over the network is not the problem. I wonder if a faster processor will speed this up quite a bit?

I am currently on a semporn 2400.....Think if i went up to a p4 3.0 GHz things would get much better?

don't bother upgrading, because I'm having the same problem with P4 3ghz 1gb RAM. I transformed all my music CD:s to MP and MP became extremely slow. It became slow even on Movies -module, do not know why??
Seems like it's processing all (music and movies) folder.jpg:s at the same time.

has this been reported as a bug?

not sure if its been reported. But hopefully it can be fixed, cuz this is the only problem I have with media portal at the moment. Aside from this I think media portal is great!

Can we expect this to be fixed in the future release? My MP became VERY slow and sluggish after moving my whole cd collection to MP. It's "almost useless" even when using "my movies" even though it should not have anything to do with "my music".

    please, this is annoying...
