Hi, I'm having issues getting the channels to change quickly and reliably. I have tried everything I could find by searching the forum. Disabling anti-virus/firewall does not help. Tried all the different decoders, moved timeshift buffer to another drive, etc.

I'm running an i3 with 8gb RAM, Windows 7, Silicon dust HDHR-3 (dual tuner). No issues running in WMC or HDHomerun viewer. Here are the logs, if I did it right. Any help is much appreciated, thanks in advance.

    Hello and welcome! :)

    Well done for providing log files. You're off to a great start. (y)

    The log files show that the delay is due to TV Server having to fall back to the second tuner.

    Example...

    MediaPortal log:
    [collapse][2015-06-07 16:35:03,053] [Log ] [MPMain ] [INFO ] - TVHome.ViewChannelAndCheck(): View channel=KXTV-DT
    [2015-06-07 16:35:03,080] [Log ] [MPMain ] [DEBUG] - TvHome.RenderBlackImage()

    [2015-06-07 16:35:25,992] [Log ] [MPMain ] [INFO ] - succeeded:confused:ucceeded TvControl.VirtualCard[/collapse]

    This means it took TV Server ~22 seconds to change channel. That is extreme to say the least. Not normal.

    Why did TV Server take so long?

    Summary: TV Server gave up tuning with your first tuner after 20+ seconds, then succeeded with the second tuner after ~2 seconds.

    Why?
    Good question. I'm not 100% sure. However, I do have a suggestion: change "preferred network provider" from "generic" to "ATSC".
    http://wiki.team-mediaportal.com/1_...nfiguration/02_TV_Servers#Edit_Tuner_Settings

    I've seen reports in the past with similar symptoms/problems that have been fixed by changing that setting.
    Make sure you apply the change to both tuners.

    Let us know if that doesn't work.

    Regards,
    mm

    Thanks much for the quick reply. I tried changing from generic to ATSC as suggested. I was unable to get any of the channels to load with that setting. I put it back to generic and back to working with the same issues. I can record two shows at once without issue, so I guess both tuners are functioning correctly. Any other help figuring out why the tuners do not pick up and release correctly while zapping would be great. MP crashed while the settings were changed, here is the new set of logs. Hopefully they can provide new insight. Unfortunately I don't really know where to look or what I'm looking at. I can usually fumble my way through getting thing to work with trial and error and a little searching, but this one is throwing me for a loop.

    What value have you set in the "application" setting in HDHR setup/config (I forget which one it is)?

    I did'nt think of that. Took me a second to understand what you meant. I kinda set it and forgot it as far as those settings go. I just looked and it was set for WMC as the main. I set it to MP. Will try it now and check back in.[DOUBLEPOST=1433725157][/DOUBLEPOST]That seems to have helped quite a bit. most channels are completely changed within 3-4 seconds instead of 20-30. There were one or two instances where it took a few seconds longer, but I can live with that. THANK YOU!!!(y) This is about as quick as the HDhomerun viewer. Not sure why WMC seems to be slightly faster, but WMC has it's own problems. I've been looking for I viable alternative. With this solved, I think I've found it.
