SQL Express fails to install becouse SQL 2005 already installed (1 Viewer)

TV-Server Version: RC2
MediaPortal Version: 1.0
MediaPortal Skin: none

During installation phase SQL Express complains that another version is aready installed and aborts installation. Main SQL database which I already have of course is not populate becouse installation engine does not know password for it. How can I make TV-Server work if I already have SQL 2005 installed on my box?

When you come, to the screen where is "One click installation", you have to select "Perform an advanced installation", and on the screen "Please select the SQL-server you want to use" just select "Sql server is already present and will be used for Tv-server". Very simple!

Thanks. I assumed it'll ask to create account or something, otherwise how is it going to authenticate there? I understand that program can use my credential to install database etc but how is it going to authenticate there without creating a user in database?

If you use the "once click installation", the installer will create the database account (every database must have at last the administrator account) "sa" with the password "MediaPortal".

If you choose the "advanced installation" and have already installed a slq server you have at last the "sa" account.

The first time you configure your MediaPortal server, a window will appear where you can choose the db type (MS SQL or MySql) and the account for accessing to the database.

You can use the "sa" one, or you can use every existing database account or create a new user only for MediaPortal. Of course the choosen account must have appropiate privileges.
