there is this one problem i can't solve since long time and with different versions of mediaportal. that is live tv stuttering only on some dvb-s channels. stuttering happens every few seconds (5-10sec) and whole mediaportal freezes for a sec max. i can tell that because program info scrolling freezes at the same time as video too. there are no peaks in system resources (cpu, disk, etc..) and cpu usage is very low, about 10%.
i tried different mpeg2 codecs, different bda and wdm drivers for skystar2 but always with same results. now i have latest WDM 4.5.0 drivers.
dvb-s signal is ok, i checked with setu4pc from technisat. my dvb-s stb humax is working flawlessly. i even tried with different dvb-s program (mytheatre) and it's working without glitches so must be mediaportal problem.

here is TsReader log while watching MTV Germany (FTA, astra 19.2east, 11973 V,27500, 3/4) and only error i can see there is "Video Continuity error...".

is there anything else i can try or anyone with similar configuration can check if this is really mediaportal bug or somethinge else...?

tia,

I have kind off the same problem, but with DVB-T streams. I suspect flaws in the streams, running tsreader now. I have a PVR that recorded the same show and at the time I have my stutters I see weird compression blocks on the PVR but it is much less noticable.

We have a problem in Australia where the Nvidia Purevideo codec stutters on progressive dvb-t broadcasts. You might want to try another codec to see if it goes away.

i don't think it's a codec thing because i tried already different codecs (MPV, ... - i checked with graphedit) but with same results. can't believe it's a irregular stream thing, too many channels with same symptomps. even if it is, mediaportal has to handle it correctly. ie, mytheater works without these kind of problems. i wonder if someone can check attached tsreader log a see those errors in it...

    Hello.

I also have stuttering, but after a system restart it's gone. after a while it appears again.
Could you check your framerates with FRAPS please?! For me, after a restart i have stable 50 fps (PDVD8) or 25 fps (MPV), but after a few hours (depends on the cannel) framerate decreases.
Because since RC4 in MP Setup general settings there is a point "restart MP after hibernate to avoid stuttering with Nvidia grafics cards" i think this could be the reason.
    I have the 8500GT, too.

I've recently updated to ATI CCC 8.12, MP 1.0.0, and removed K-Lite codec pack and installed latest stand alone filters with enabled PowerDVD MPEG-2 decoder and ffdshow for audio. After this update I also have continuity errors on some channels. If I preview the channels in TV-Server configuration, than it looks ok. I'm using vista + EVR.

That works for me too :D
Just create a empty txt file named like mentioned above and some hidden setting gets activated that will handle errors in your streams differtently. And instead of a stutter you get a coding glitch, but those are for me less visible

damn, on one machine the fix results in weird behaviour. After playing one ts stream I con not play a second one. The screen remains black.
Anyone have an idea how to solve that?
I allready tested several codecs, installed the latest ffdshow. Running on Vista I use the EVR and have a fancy vista theme (with glass borders).
If I only can get rid of these black screens, then its working perfectly.
