So how do you explain that RC1 was fine and DVBViewer (which I've also tested) works fine too?

Who knows... previously (not sure about the exact SVN revision) MP was not dropping video frames when it encountered a discontinuity error.

These stuttering issues are really hard to troubleshoot. Almost every songle time it as been the setup itself, not code side bug. So we would need as much as possible information from your system, broadcaster etc.

    - When you tested 'RelaxTsReaderForBadReception.txt', did you make sure that TsReader.log said it was in use?

    - Make sure that the discontinuity errors are appearing every time when you see stuttering (run MP in windowed mode and monitor the logs).

    - Try to provide a recording that can be used to reproduce the issue (also test with DVBViever the same recording)

    - Single seat or multiseat?

...as said previously, these are really hard to troubleshoot... and users who are experiencing the issue should provide as MUCH information as possible. There is no useless information when it comes to troubleshooting the stuttering. I guess I should write some FAQ / quide that could be used fr the troubleshooting process.

    Hello.
As told earlier in this thread and in the german thread, i also have this stuttering problem.
I already noticed this in RC2, but i don't know with which SVN.

MediaPortal ought to be the reason for this because i didn't ever got this stuttering when watching a
    TV-Server-recording with WMP11.
Yesterday first i tired to switch from ffdshow beta 5 to the StandAloneFilters for MP v3.01 but stuttering is still there.
Then i installed DVBDream and no stuttering appeared.

I ALWAYS can fix this problem by restarting my System, but it occurs again after a while. The longer the system is on, the more stuttering appears.
Timeshift in RAMDrive has no effect; switching off the Windows Pagefile.sys (no problem with 2GB of RAM) has also no effect.

I also have stuttering on live TV, haven't seen lots of discontinouty errors in the logs tough.

In my case the stuttering seems to go away when disabling hardware acceleration (dxva) for the Cyberlink PowerDVD 7.3 Mpeg-2 codec (using MPA for audio). This in conjunction with a Nvidia Geforce 6200 graphics card and latest drivers.

Perhaps this is not same problem that many users experience in this thread but related to my low spec htpc...

    regards

I think most stuttering I have seen has been related to continuity errors.

Are you 100% sure that discontinuity errors can not be caused by any bugs in Tv Server or other related parts (for example TSwriter.ax)? I don't think that though since I get continuity errors in dvbviewer as well.

I do have a feeling that many problems with TV Server is related to how it deals (or not deal with) with bad data. I have the same experience that dvbviewer run solid while TV Server has problems. My problems with TV Server is worse than just stuttering. Often one or both tuners will stop working and I need to reboot to get them back working. No problems at all in dvbviewer and I do have discontinuity errors in dvbviewer as well however I don't notice that much stuttering and never that a tuner stop working or it crashing.

Also can discontinuities be caused by broadcaster (and possibly software fixes to deal with them)? I found this when I googled (which might not apply at all to MP but seems like a similar problem):

"The problem was that sometimes there were quite a lot of missing frames
(jumpy picture), and at the other times there were none. I debugged VDR and
finally pinpointed the problem in the remuxer. It appears that Finnish
broadcaster company is (sometimes) sending PES packets longer than VDR
    remuxer can handle
. The fix is quite simple and did remove the problem for
me and for couple of others who tried the fix in Helsinki area."

Just wanted to add my experience to the thread.

Had TV on MP working perfectly up unitl two days ago. Had a hard drive crash (everything got deleted by corrupt bios/cmos).

Reinstalled, and now have the stuttering problem. The only thing thats changed in my hardware is an additional hard drive. (paths still the same as before... tried using drive 2 for time lapse - no difference)

Have followed all the suggestions above but no luck.

    dtv2000h

    Using server/client single seat installation.

So, in my experience this problem had nothing to do with hardware, and in my case nothing to do with aerial or dvb signal (those aspects havent changed either). Its something to do with the config. (Wish I could remember how I set it up last time! - followed all the same steps I could recall, but now with the new installation DVB is pretty much unwatchable [not using analogue])

I solved my shuttering error by buying a new card. I had a TerraTec PCI HD and changed to a TechnoTrend 3200.
The TT is to my mind much better: No shuttering anymore, and faster channel-zapping.

    Hello.

I did again some tests to find what causes the stuttering, but i didn't have luck.

I opened one .ts-file in the timeshift-folder with graphedit and noticed that an elecard MGEG-Decoder is used, so i started radlight and deregistered the elecard video and audio filter and restarted my system.
Now MPV / MPA was used to play .ts-files, but the stuttering also appeared in MP.
Then i deregistered the MPA/MPV filters, and i didn't get "My TV" to work any more although ffdshow is installed and the settings in MP setup were changed to ffdshow.
Then i installed saf303, changed the MP settings and TV worked again, but still with stuttering.
The next step was to change the MP settings in the directshow-filters-section from ... DMR9 to EMS?! I can't remember the correct names. ... But this also didn't solve the stuttering.

Can anybody tell me if my idea with graphedit was wrong?
Or what else could i do to find the problem?

What i noticed is, that every restart of the system solves the stuttering problem for a while.
(it seems to depend on the channel watching how long it works)

Stuttering in live TV is back here also (RC3). I was experimenting with the codecs. Thought I had solved it by uninstalling the MPA and MPV filters but no; problem is still here.
