a solution for me is to make a pause on live tv for some seconds and then hit play button again....and stuttering is gone..
But i dont face stuttering in all of my channels only on some dvb-s.

I experience the same thing with RC3 SVN on some DVB-C channels (e.g. NET5). The trick with pausing Live TV works but is definitely a decrease on WAF. I haven't seen this in RC1/RC2.
Another channel (Spice Channel) gets worse and freezes most of the times (has nothing to do with WAF :D)

In these cases I don't see the TV card having any impact whatsoever. josch.hh's problem must have been the TV card, but our stutter problem appears to be related to MP somehow.

    Hello.

I did again some tests to find what causes the stuttering, but i didn't have luck.

I opened one .ts-file in the timeshift-folder with graphedit and noticed that an elecard MGEG-Decoder is used, so i started radlight and deregistered the elecard video and audio filter and restarted my system.
Now MPV / MPA was used to play .ts-files, but the stuttering also appeared in MP.
Then i deregistered the MPA/MPV filters, and i didn't get "My TV" to work any more although ffdshow is installed and the settings in MP setup were changed to ffdshow.
Then i installed saf303, changed the MP settings and TV worked again, but still with stuttering.
The next step was to change the MP settings in the directshow-filters-section from ... DMR9 to EMS?! I can't remember the correct names. ... But this also didn't solve the stuttering.

Can anybody tell me if my idea with graphedit was wrong?
Or what else could i do to find the problem?

What i noticed is, that every restart of the system solves the stuttering problem for a while.
(it seems to depend on the channel watching how long it works)

I think you're on the right way to solve the problem.

Here's what I did, to get rid of the stutter till today:

    Installed RC3 with latest svn.
after 20496 SVN version its possible to use the experimental C:\RelaxTsReaderForBadReception.txt setting.
create this file, check if it's used in TsReader.log.

Personally I prefer PDVD8 Codecs, so I'm using them for A/V.
Afterwards I checked with Graphedit (in Vista use GrapheditDX10) which codecs are in use. And I realized, that wether audio or video was using the selected PDVD8 codecs. So I used Graphstudio (or Radlight Filter Manager if you prefer) to change merits.
Set PDVD8 to normal, uninstalled MPA/MPV completely, set ffdshow to unlikely. Now PDVD8 codecs are being used for TV decoding.

No guarantee, but it works out for me at the moment.

    My 2 cents:

I got the stuttering as well, only with HD channels btw, and I did myself a present as it was my birthday anyways, and bought a new graphics card (Gainward HD4650 with 1Gb DDR2).. no stuttering anymore.

What helped in the past was:
New better quality (Hirschmann) COAX cables and all metal shielded COAX plugs.. Dont underestimate this! Once I came to the point I could not watch HD channels at all anymore, blaming Mediaportal for this.. but then at some point I got the question to check signal strength and BER, and these were less then 75%, at some channels only 25%.. and they advised me to change the COAX cables and plugs.. did that, and since then signal strength is back to 100% and BER 0.. able to watch HD channels again.
Installing an antenna signal amplifier just before the HTPC (short coax from amp to HTPC), just a cheap one from the nearest radioshop.
Get rid of MPV/MPA decoders and use Cyberlink(PowerDVD8) codecs exclusively, I found out ffdshow does not work with live TV, I dont know why.
Hardware acceleration is not allways better when used with low spec graphics cards. Turning off Hardware acceleration improved my situation greatly when I used the on board X1250 GFX card.

But still not a perfectly smooth running pictue, certainly with fast paced scenes. Not really bad, but it was there and started to anoying me more and more. The final thing that needed upgrading was the Graphics card, and since I installed the gainward HD4650 very smooth running pictures, in HD and SD.

    Well worth the E70,- investment!

    Lots

    Hello Psykoman.

Well, i didn't install any SVN up to now, but i'll try this.

Do you use standby or hibernate on your system? Because i noticed that standby also stops stuttering so i assume that hibernate stops it also.
My System is "always on", so you could still have this problem without noticing it.

Well, the signal strength/quality can't be the problem because recordings are OK; only viewing seems to have problems.
Strength is at about 85% and quality always 100%. ... And DVBDream has also no problems.
And the hardware should also be fast enough, because my AMD-processor is always running under 10%.

    Good Morning!

Yesterday i installed the SVN from 08.11., but stuttering appeared again.
Then i created this file: C:\RelaxTsReaderForBadReception.txt
but this also wasn't the solution for me.

Did you check in TsReader.log if C:\RelaxTsReaderForBadReception.txt is in use (have to check on my system, if stuttering appears without it in my latest config)?
Did you check the graph as recommended?

I'm not sure if this relates the the exact problem you have been having but i found that on the HD channels of my installation, i got really bad stuttering (unwatchable) I also had the default recording method set to MPG.
After changing the default to TS for recording all was good.
Mind you, the SD channels were all good.

I did not think that my computer was the cause. It is a Dual core 2.4 with 4 gig of ram on win xp pro. I did try and resolve the issue with different codecs but to no avail. So the only problem i have now is editing TS files and converting them for shows i want to keep.

    Hope this helps.

    Did again some tests.

    @psycoman:
The RelaxTsReaderForBadReception.txt is in use. The right codec was also used.

I installed the PowerDVD v8 Trial to use this codec. I checked this with GraphStudio and it was in use.
Small surprise, the framerate shown by fraps was now 50 fps instead of 25 fps with MPV.
I think this has to do with some framerate settings within MP. ...
After a while, stuttering appeared again!!!
But what i found out was that this not only happens in live-TV! i copied an AVI-File to my recording folder and started it via "my video". Here i also saw the stuttering!!!

I don't have any idea what could be the reason for this. Next Week i'll try RC4 if stuttering is gone or not. ...
