I get black screens after playing a file with stutters once, then any second file played stays black.
Only on one machine, two others work fine with this setting :(

Does anyone have a idea what maybe going on there?
Its a Vista SP1 machine with MP 1.0 and ffdshow as codec for viewing, but this happens with other codecs also.
I tried the video rendering settings (VRE or WMV9 or something) but all the same behaviour.

And I really need to figure out why it has so many errors in the stream latetly ;)

Yeah I remember that the MP team had issues with that patch.
You have no problems with it? no people report issues with connections etc?

a nm, this becomes a thread hijack ;)

    But I tested more.

It seems i can view almost stutter free on the MP client thats ON the tv server machine.
And I have stutters on the clients, most on a wired client after 2 hubs and 1 wifi client.

So network is involved here it seems.

I would prefer such a patch in a simple test form without all your other stuff. can you create a zip with the required dll's?

I have added C:\RelaxTsReaderForBadReception.txt to my computer and it has helped very much to get rid of the stuttering I had on some channels. I get a lot of "Video Continuity error" and "Audio Continuity error" in TsReader.log on these channels so it seems that reception is not perfect.

I also noticed that the problem with stuttering on these channels is not only present with Live TV. When watching a TV recording in .TS format recorded on my Dreambox, I get the same kind of stuttering in MediaPortal as on Live TV. With RelaxTsReaderForBadReception activated the stutter is reduced to a some pixelation. When watching the recording on the Dreambox itself there are no visible problems at all with the picture and no stuttering. So it seems that the Dreambox is better at handling the errors than MediaPortal. Perhaps there is room for improvement in this area on future releases of MediaPortal?

Anyway, thanks a lot for information on the RelaxTsReaderForBadReception setting. Please make this a documented feature in future releases of MediaPortal, perhaps even the default setting.

this option is no longer supported this way! instead of the txt file, go to mp configuration, tvclient, check there "don't drop discontinued packets"

As far as I know, the way these errors are handled depends completely on the codec that is selected for playback. So I don't think there is anything the MP devs can do about this.

Is this in the latest SVN? I am running 1.0 and I cannot find this setting.

Thanks for the input. I will try another codec. If another codec is better at handling the errors then maybe I don't have to buy a new TV card with better reception!
