Sadly, Since upgrading to MP RC2, I am now suffering the same state as all with the stutter due to dropped packets. MP1 RC1 was stable and would get the occassional pixelation but this seems to be worse as the sound is also dropped, making it more noticable.

Is there anyway that an option can be made not to use the "drop dirty signal" packets as I never had a crash before and would prefer pixelation than dropped packets.. This is my only gripe with RC2 at the moment..

For those using the RC2 tvserver please try the following.

Raise the priority of the tvservice in setuptv to above normal or high.

I have tried this and the number of continuity errors has dropped in testing when before similar condition test caused continuity errorrs.

For those newer members posting please complete a systems spec ' MY SYSTEM' in your profile and keep updated as we need information to test accurately, those older members without this info (if any) should realy know better.

I was set to High already, but have jsut bumped to realtime. My TVServer is a standalone and is running at approx 4% CPU utilisation. WIll report back if it has improved. Interestingly this is in the logs
signal level 0 signal quality 99 and my other card states signal level 89 signal quality 80

I am recording in mpg. Could this be an issue?

Did not know you could still, as this has not worked for me for months and i believed was totally broken, so the advice i have been giving out is to use ts format.

I turned it off as I could not watch it them in MP it did record. I am having Codec Hell at the moment since ffdshow has been disallowed for MPEG2 streams.......and I can not get any others to work well.

My Stutters seem to be noise in the signal, (i.e. mainly electrical appliances turning on off) but this "new feature" of dropping packets has made it quite more noticable.:(

Installed RC2 last night and just did a quick test. Still there.

With TV Service at normal priority it was actually worse than before. Instead of once every 2 or 3 minutes before, it was now several times a minute.

With TVService at above normal priority it lessened considerably maybe once every 3 or 4 minutes, but it was still there. High priority didn't have much additional influence.

On a whim I disabled antivirus and firewall (AVG and Comodo respectively), had no affect either.

These messages come up in the mediaportal.log file a LOT. With corresponding entries in the tsreader.log. Seems to be bouncing around different streamtypes and resolutions. Does anyone else get these?:

They seem to be around entries for the Video Convertor plugin, I'm going to try disabling that and see if it makes a difference.

    Logs attached...

    I am the same.
RC1 ran fine with the odd night with some pixelation and the odd picture freeze with the sound continuing that would require me to skip forward a second or two to get the picture back. This was bearable
Last night I upgraded to RC2 and now I have 2 channels working fine but 2 that stutter every few seconds and is pretty much unwatchable.

Hopefully this can be an easy fix otherwise I will revert back to RC1 this weekend

    Stuter Issues

I also have this stuttering issues - which has made MP unuseable for the time being.

I've rebuilt my machine several times using both Vista and XP to se if it would make a difference (RC2). But this problem persists now even with RC1. So I'm a little lost as to the exact problem.

I've noticed that the stuttering has a correlation to the CPU utilisation. While watching a non HD channel CPU is at around 35 - 40% (AMD 2000+), when watching HD CPU goes up to 70 - 80% and when it peaks at 100% thats when the stuttering occurs.

Sometimes this can take upto 30 minutes before the a HD channel peaks - then will regularly stutter. I also noticed that the Mediaportal.exe is using 200+ MB of memory and increasing fast.

Maybe someone to check to see if their cpu and memory usage also correlate with stuttering.

(So far I've not seen anything to suggest the MP dev team are looking into this issue, so maybe if we can provide more symptoms and descirpitons and raise this in a support forum?)
