I also have a stuttering problem on LiveTV, but only on 2 channels, the rest is fine.
After a reboot these channels work fine, but after a while they begin to stutter. Which suggest a problem with timeshift.

When I pause these channels for a sec and press play again, it runs smoothly.

Using the latest "disaster's build".
I am having a similar problem. On some channels (e.g. the HD channel SVT HD) I get stuttering/pixelation quite often. When watching LiveTV, a severe case of pixelation causes the video and audio to get out sync with up to a couple of seconds in the worst case. If I press the rewind button and watch the timeshift buffer with a few seconds delay after the live feed, a severe case of pixelation doesn't seem to cause the video and audio to get out of sync.

It also seems that some codecs are better than other to keep video and audio in sync after a severe case of pixelation. ffdshow H264 codec seem to be better than ATI H264 codec in this respect. I have to test this a bit more though.

I have ReClock installed and it could contribute to the problems but I am quite sure I have managed to deactive ReClock for MediaPortal. But to be on the safe side I will uninstall ReClock.

Yesterday I managed to setup my Dreambox so I can record HD channels and what I have seen so far the quality of the recorded TV seems to be much better when done on the Dreambox compared to my TV card.

Edit, more findings:
The stutter/pixelation problems seem to decrease a lot if I record TV with TV Server in the background without running MediaPortal to watch TV at the same time. When such a recording is played up at a later time with MediaPortal there are much less problems with stutter/pixelation compared to when watching Live TV.

I have a floppyDTV myself and works great,

If you have tried everything I sugested, you'r right, then maybe the TV card isnt that good. Strange is that with the signal amplifier the quality goes bad, that should not happen. In that case the amplifier may be broken as well. With 90% signal strength and 90% quality, the floppyDTV should perform well, allso on HD channels.

I have tried Catalist 9.1, but then my Blue Ray ISO's did not play anymore, also deinterlacing goes bad when I do that, so I stick with the drivers delivered with the Gainward HD4650 Card I have as there deinterlacing works as it should and all my blue ray iso's play fine.

Is it possible to amplify a digital signal? I mean.. 1's and 0's.... do they become 2's and 1's or??

Seems odd, but yes it is important to have a good signal, I am not a specialist, but I think because the digital signal is carried by frequency bands, and if these frequencies are not sharp and secure, you get problems. Look at your transponder list, these numbers are all tuning frequencies, and sometimes close to eachother, so when distorted or blurry it has an effect on the zero's and ones as well.. not that they become two's or four's, but because they are lost in cyberspace :)

To get rid if these problems it helps to ampliy the signal frequencies, so the zero's and ones can be clearly seen again by the digital receiver and dont get lost.

True, but you also amplify possible distortion on top of the digital signal.

I bought a FireDTV-box (for cable TV) this week and I have now been using it for a couple of days. It works much better than my old Twinhan TV-card. With FireDTV I have almost perfect reception on all channels including the HD channel SVT HD. Almost no stuttering or pixelelation at all. FireDTV itself reports 100% signal strength and 100% signal quality but I guess those numbers should be taken with a grain of salt.

I still have some problem with audio coming out of sync with video on LiveTV though, especially when watching a broadcast with DD 5.1 sound the HD channel. If I pause with timeshift and resume the sync problem most often disappears but after a while audio gets out of sync again and it gets worse and worse with time. Yesterday I tried a lot of different settings during a broadcast on the HD channel and one thing that seemed to make it better was to redirect sound to ReClock Audio Renderer and use wave out instead of direct sound in ReClock. The audio still came slightly out of sync but the problem didn't seem to grow worse and worse as it did before.

Until last Sunday I ran MediaPortal on top of XP and never had any stutter on live tv. Then I installed Vista and now there is stutter every five seconds. Also new recordings stutter. Playback of older recorded shows works fine without stutter.

I have Vista Ultimate and I disabled all MCE services, and used gpedit.msc to disable MP starting when I push green button on the remote control. Is this enough or could MCE still somehow interfere? Video playback is also very bad with the same stuttering.

Any ideas what to check next?

    I exeperience some stuttering also:

watching FTA channels on my KNC1 card is perfectly, but the scrambled ones do stutter every 10-20 seconds.

STRANGE: during commercials I read news in the RSS plugin (tv visible in small window). Now, when a stutter occurs, it's NOT only tvpicture, but also scrolling text gets an interuption. For me this doesn't look like it's primary caused by tv reception?

For all who told that disabling CAM solves stuttering: AFAIK tvserver only sends the PMT once to the CAM so it can descramble. When it's running no additional calls are done. I can't imagine what could cause stuttering with this???

Could this be related to 0001969: Default skin has huge performance issue with 128MB GPUs - MediaPortal Bugtracker ?

Do you use EVR? (set it in MP configuration, advanced mode, direct show settings)

Vista Aero (standard glassy vista look) is required to have proper video playback (dont ask me why).

Which codecs do you use? What graphics card do you use? Which driver?

Best is to fill out your Home theatre system specification in your forum profile, so we can check using the My System link on the left

I'm using Aero and EVR. Codec is MPV, graphic card integrated 780G (HD3200) with latest 9.2 drivers.

Lots of stuttering also with 1080P24 and CoreAVC. Also this did not happen with XP.

I just updated the system specification info.

Seems like you do not have enough RAM allocated to your on board 780 GFX card, try to change this first, you should be able to change this in the bios, set it to the maximum available (check your Motherboard user manual how to change the bios). If this does not help, check the following

MPV (and MPA audio) sucks, Unregister with radlight and try Coreavc again.. (even if coreavc selected, MPV might be used, so you must un-register MPV to make sure Coreavc is used)

If coreavc still shows stutters, find a copy of PowerDVD8 and try cyberlink H264/AVC video codec for HD and Cyberlink sd/ video codec for Mpeg2.

ATI 9.2 I tried and have un-installed, in stead I installed the drivers as provided on the CD with my Graphics card (Gainward HD4650).. much better! some functions were missing in the 9.2 driver (like the deinterlacing options) and some Blue Ray rips stopped working with the new driver.

In MP configurator turn on Hardware accelleration for HD and Mpeg2 video, if still stutters, try to turn off HA for HD video, sometimes the CPU is better then the GFX to do the work, especially with on board GFX which are a little low on RAM.

If all this doesnt work out as you wish, consider to upgrade with a seperate GFX card, the HD4650 with 1024MB DDR2 on board works very well in my system. These mid range GFX cards are less then $100, for a little more you can have a completely passively cooled (quiet) GFX card.
