Hi,

Long(ish) time user first time poster!! Just recently updated to V0.2 from V0.1.3 and I gotta say its a fantasic leap forward. Especially like the fact that much of the configuration is within the app now and also like the much improve channel change speed in my TV (almost as fast as the native app). Anyhoo onto the problems at hand...

These are new problems since updating to 0.2. Before I installed 0.2 I updated Windows, my video driver and my TV card driver. MP and TV card driver where uninstalled before re-installing them.

Problem is around timeshift and record. When viewing TV with timeshift on the picture and sound 'Stutter' i.e. it will pause momentarily then skip forward. On the odd occasion it does not skip but will speed up the picture trying to 'catch up' to where its supposed to be. This happens on all channels though some seem worse than others but might just be a fluke. Sometimes it will be OK but as soon as you flick over the channel it comes back. Other times I can fix it by changing the channel.

Also have a probelm with record which may be relted. Tried to record Connan the Barbarian ( or Grogan the unbearable as I like to call him ) the other night. Seemed to record OK but when playing back, about 10 minutes in, it skiped forward 1hr was OK for another 10 minutes then skipped forward to about 5 minutes before the end. I did not experiance these problems in 0.1.3.

In addition to the hardware mentioned above I am using NVIDIA raid level 0 (stripped) with 3 x 80GB SATA hard drives with over 110GB of free space. There is plenty of CPU capacity and the drive bandwidth seems to be OK as proved using 0.1.3. I am not running any Virus scanners and the box is used exclusivly for MP.

Can anyone give me a heads up. I have done a quick search through the Forum and the FAQ (which help solve the tearing problem I had) but have found nothing similar.

Cheers,

Danny

Have you tried any other video decoders to see if it is caused by the new MPV decoder?

If you play this recording with Windows Media Player, do you get the same result - just trying to determine if it is a fault with the recording, or with the playback?

To be honest I have been buggering around with different settings working through a number of problems I can't tell you for sure. Will try your suggestion tonight when I get home.

For the timeshift problem I went back to descalar for both audio and video as they worked in 0.13 however that did not fix the problem.

I also found that the auto tune has not picked up SBS and channel 9 properly as they were out by 125khz so I manually adjusted them in the setting. May fix some flakeyness I was havving with these channels even with 0.1.3. Had little-no effect on timeshift problem though.

As far as the recording...um... I must have deleted it. I am just doing another recording to see if it will re-produce. Will report results.

    Cheers,

    Danny

    However timeshift still an issue.
Meaning that watching live TV with timeshifting OFF is fine?

And watching a previously recorded TV program is fine?

But, turn timeshifting ON, "the picture and sound 'Stutter' i.e. it will pause momentarily then skip forward. On the odd occasion it does not skip but will speed up the picture trying to 'catch up' to where its supposed to be." And it does this on ALL DVB-T channels?

Also, remember that when you upgraded MP to v0.2, you also upgraded the video card and TV card drivers - could either of these be the culprit?

Yes watching TV live with timeshift off is OK.

Timeshift on = stuttering and speeding up and is unwatchable. Happens on all channels but is worse on the ABC, SBS and channel 9.

Previously record TV is fine except for the problem I had with missing serveral hours of the movie which I can't re-produce.

I don't know about the design of media portal components however if the TV works fine without timeshift on then I would doubt it would be a video/tv card driver issue. Might try going back to the old drivers if there are no other alternatives but I would prefer an easier route at this point... Getting TV set up right after the video driver is installed is a PITA.

Thanks for your help. I'll continue to play...

    Cheers,

    Danny

... i´ve the same problem and i found a funny solution for it:

After activating timeshift, i went "back in time" (... not live) and it´s working perfect.

I have found the same problem with the 2nd install of 0.2 final, and like Hugo, have found that by altering the timeshift (in his case rewinding, in my case fast-forwarding) the problem is removed.

I didn't experience it in my first install of 0.2 final, nor in 0.2 RC2/RC4. I'm just about to install 0.2 final again with the patch SVN.

I'll have to try rewinding too (if the problem raises it's head on this install!)
