Re: SubCentral v0.9.1 - download & manage subtitles (Moving Pictures/MP-TVSeries/othe

I am sorry to hear you have this problem runlonger. But the fact is that you're not the first one. I've had one more reporter of this same issue.

Does in your case retrying download couple of times help?

The way writable check works is that it tries to actually save a (temporary) file on the path (be it UNC path or mapped network drive). If that doesn't succeed, it complains.

What I can do is triple check this code segment. I could also add some more logging and post a test version for you, if you're willing to help me debug this. I haven't seen this message on my systems.

Yes, that would be nice and this is already on our issue tracker. But this is not easy task and I'm already giving all the time I possibly can for all MediaPortal related stuff and still failing to do everything I would like to ;) That's why I can't say this is something high on my priority list. Community help - welcome :)

unfortunately, retrying doesn't help at all. I'm unable to save the subtitles. The strange part is that it worked before...
Do you know any other programs that could "test" the UNC path the way your program is using it?

Of course I would like to help you with this!
thanks for your reply and help! :)

I've been looking at the code for a few minutes and I'm pretty sure it fails when checking whether host is alive. Sadly, there is no logging in that method to confirm. I should probably look for better way to handle this anyhow.

There is one thing you can test right away:

Does adding hostname to IP mapping for MICHAEL-PC to hosts file (c:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts) help? Line like this:

    192.168.1.XX(ip) MICHAEL-PC

    :)

YES! Puttting that line there works. Disabling this line and it stops working, so it is 100% reproducable :)
    Thanks for the solution!!!!

Do you have any idea why this affected only my network? Why it began without changing any computer names, having address reservation activated on the router? It's a mystery for me, but anyhow: THANKS A LOT!

    Good night!

had the same problem while the mapping was ip based z: \\10.10.0.2\media
after changing the mapping to z: \\library\media and adding a pointer in the hosts file to LIBRARY 10.10.0.2 the downloader worked.

been beating myself up for a month now with this setup and couldn;t troubleshoot it based on the assumption the problem was permission based .

Thanks for your help and keep up the good work.

SilentException: just wanna say I appreciate your reply on the auto-download without user intervention! I can imagine it's a difficult thing to implement. Very happy to hear you would also like to implement this feature........i'm a very patient man :) so no worries, subcentral already is excellent!

SilentException: Do you have any objections to us including the MP1.2beta compatible version of you plugin in an installer for Mustayaluca? I've intergrated the pulgin into MovPics and MP-TVSeries in the skin :) We're trying to get Mustayaluca out now the 1.2 beta has been released ;)

@PR Yes sure, no problem. I wont be able to push new version until next week but you can use latest alpha if it has been working good :)

CypherMK folder structure in ZIP somehow matches MediaPortal installation structure.. :)
