Folks,
I am looking for a very very quiet hard disk into my livingroomPC. Can you recommend one?
Can be IDE or SATA (have a Elitegroup PM800 M2 motherboard). The case is a Silverstone LaScala LC02, so I have some thougts about the temperature inside but just a Celeron D with 2.4 GHz which hopefully does not heat to much.

It's merely for watching TV or DVD or my holiday pics.
Any comment is appreciated.

I use a Seagate Barracuda in my HTPC. Very low noise. Even my gf has accepted it :D It seems to be reliable as well. I've had no trouble with it.

    Hi,

i also can recommend the seagate baracuda series. You should use those with 5400 rpm not 7200. :) I have three baracudas in use without any problems. They are really nice quiet.

I can recommend the samsung V80 Series. I have build in in my living room PC a SV1604N with 160.0GB at 5400rpm.

Don't buy Fujitsu or Maxtor ... both are quiet when spinning, but the chatter from the heads moving is unbearable !
