suggestions for a very quiet harddisk (1 Viewer)

    Maxtor has lost me as customer to..
    Damn thing lost data on me and it happened on multiple disks...

    I now use Western Digital and it's a great drive.
    Fast and quiet.
    head noise is also very low.

    something you need to be aware of is that compared to some other drives, the seagate barracuda's can be a little slow ( i hope that doesnt upset any seagate fans).

    The reason I say this is because I went out and bought the cheapest Dell I could a few months ago in order to setup my HTPC. It came with a 40GBseagate, today I ghosted it to a 250GB maxtor (cant think of the model) but it breathed new life and fast new life into it....With the pc on and performing a defrag, i could hardly hear the hdd going...admittadly...louder than the seagate

    Barracuda from Seagate!!! Got that on my HTPC that sits in the Living room and you simply do not hear it.....!
