Hi all

First of all, I'd like to thank the StreamedMP developers for an absolutely amazing skin. The looks and functionality have no match. :D
I've got a question though.
Everyone living in my flat has German for their mother tongue (I'm in Switzerland). StreamedMP offers the possibility to change Item names and labels, i.e. "Watch some MOVIES" to "All my FLICKS". I can translate that stuff to German without any hassle. In German though, directly translating something like "Watch some MOVIES" would optimally read "FILME ansehen". This means I'd actually need to switch the positions of Item name and label.
How can I do that?
Thanks! :)

Well as you know you can edit the context label and item name in the editor, so why not just switch them around there :)

HI ltfearme, thanks for your reply.

I think you misunderstood - I do know that I can change these informations or just use the lines accordingly, but that would mean it doesn't get displayed correctly.
Example: Let's say the string in capitals is the menu item, such as MOVIES, SERIES or GAMES. The label (being faded in when the menu item is being selected) is in lowercase, such as "watch some", or "play some". That would mean that for an English set up, "watch some MOVIES" or "play some GAMES" would be perfectly okay. Since the German translation to these phrases are "FILME schauen" and "GAMES spielen", it doesn't work, because if I simply used the existing way, the menu would read "filme SCHAUEN", "games SPIELEN". That mean the verb (watching, playing) would be the menu entry, while the actual object (movies, games) were the label, which looks really weird.
What I need, therefore, is a way to switch the positions of item name and label so that the item name is displayed first and the label underneath it. Do you understand what I'm trying to say? :)

maybe another option is turn off the context labels entirely and just put what you want in the ITEM NAME field? you can turn it off in the Menu /Plugin Options tab, Menu Options sub tab

Hi mastyman, thanks for your reply!

Yeah, that's one way to do it - but I lose the possibility of setting labels. I know, insisting on them is a little stubborn, but I'd really like to use them :) do I have to change the hardcode to enable this? If yes, anyone know how?

    Hi,

Just picked up on this and what you require would mean some code changes (and an option) in the editor and a re-jig of the xml code - should be possible. Are you using the vertical menu, it would work ok with that menu but the horizonatl would look a little odd.

    Cheers

    Hi Trevor

    Thanks for your reply.

Yes, I am using the vertical one, I like that one the most. Would you be able to implement this?

[EDIT] Should you decide to implement this, would it be too much to ask to insert an option that enables labels before AND after the item name (like the Weather menu item)? I think this would greatly improve StreamedMP Usage for international users! :) On second thought, I guess it would be easier to add "Label Before" and "Label After" and then only check if at least one of them is filled. If a label field contains no info, its space in the menu is not being used (to avoid malformation of the menu). Something like this?

    Hi Strike Da Mic,

Had a quick look - fairly simple mod if I have understood what you are after correctly - screenshot attached.

At the basic level this will reverse the menu item and context lable for the whole menu - did you want this just for some menu items (lot more involved that)

    Cheers

    Hi Trevor,

Perfect. That's just it. :) For me personally, being able to use the label after the item name would suffice. Still, I think that enabling users to choose for every menu entry specifically would increase multilinguality (is that even a word? :D) and therefore be a lasting improvement.
When do you plan to publish a general update to the theme (if you work with the StreamedMP team)? If it's in the near future, don't rush this issue and implement it in an update; I can wait couple days to two or three weeks. :) Thanks a lot!

    Hi Strike Da Mic,

I am part of the StreamedMP team, I have made the changes and added an option under the 'Menu Options' tab and that all commited.

We have not yet planned for another patch, the next major release will be 1.5 and that will be for MP 1.2 which hopfully be release soon.

I have sent you a PM with details of where to pick up a test version, if you find any problems please let me know.

    Thanks
