System hangs when video stops (2 Viewers)

Basically the problem is that almost always when video stops (by ending or by pressing stop) the system hangs, especially when playing x264 files. Since I have a dual core CPU I can manage to few thing after this happens, like opening the task manager (which shows that the System process is taking 50% of CPU - or 100% of one core). But I can't even restart Windows normally, but I need to use the Reset button.

If I start to play an other video file before the first one ends, usually everything works fine. That is, until I stop playing video.

I initially though that this might have been a codec problem, so I uninstalled all my codecs and reinstalled everything by following the Tutorial: Playing .mkv-Files, but it didn't help.

I have posted previously this problem in the Codecs, External Players (Topic: MP hangs when full screen (HD) video ends ), but I didn't receive any help there, so I hope I get more help here

Any ideas? I'm really starting to be annoyed with this problem

Well, maybe I should try to uninstall MP then reinstall it...

Try Filmerit, just in case its a codec problem.

Then repeat error and post logs, use MPTestTool (start menu) to collect logs and post using form advanced feature +

Have you also tried using EVR, instead of VMR9.

I did run Filmerit. It found 5 errors. I fixed them, but it didn't help.

Here are the log files after running MPTestTool. Since I had to force reset the system after the problem and in Windows start in automatically runs MP, I included the BAK log files as well.

MP config\Directshow Filter Control, try selecting EVR, you really need .net3 and use latest MP svn to make sure all the latest possible fixes are applied.

Besides you playing Rambo\stargate, nothing spectacular in logs.

Now you have got rid of the codec errors, does problem still occur.

I must be blind, but I can't see this EVR

I attached a Screen Shot to show what I see.

Anyway, I'm downloading ATM .net 3.5...

One more thing, I thought that those codec errors where fixed by Filmerit. It reads: "0 error among 248 filters"

in you screenshot the last option is Enhanced Video Renderer ( = EVR ).

This screen has been updated in the latest SVN to Video Renderer just to avoid users look in two different places for the same settings.

Maybe you can update ;-)

Yep, I'm officially blind now

OK that didn't help either. I did install the new Framework too.

I will try to uninstall MP and reinstall it now.

Here are the latest log files after reinstalling MP. It's running now 0.2.3 stable version.

The thing that has changed is, instead of hanging when stopping playback it hangs on after I select a new video file to play.


EDIT: The same behavior in the latest SVN too.

you have a error in your log: "VideoPlayerVMR9: Exception while cleanuping DShow graph - Object reference not set to an instance of an object.".

Please review all MediaPortal requirements and if this doesn't fix update to the latest SVN and report back if fixed or not.
