To get an overview over supported hardware and driver versions in Windows 7 I have created a test program. It's based on the SharpDX example for Effects and requires DX 11.1/Direct2D which should work on Windows 7 with Platform Update (from year 2013).

    The important part:
Please extract the attached archive "DX11_Test_1.7z" and run the "OfflineImageProcessingApp.exe". It either shows you a window with a blurred graphic+text overlay, or it does immediately crash on startup.

The other archive (D2D_DX10_DX9_Interop_MiniTri.7z) is intended to check for proper interop of DX10/DX9/D2D.
Please post your results in following form:

Explanation of "crash" entries: they happened with the first test binary which uses "Debug" flag. This leads to errors on system without debugging libraries. Without "Debug" flag all listed system work :)

    Hi.
Tried it on my main HTPC, Core i5 4590 (Haswell 2. Gen), HD4600 GFX, Win7 Ultimate, all Updates incl. IE11 installed, and the DX11 test crashes after one second or two. The minitri.exe is running and the MiniTri.vshost.exe is crashing too.
Exact the same result I got on my working PC, Celeron 847, Intel HD GFX, WIn7 Ultimate, all Updates installed.
At least the i5 should be able to handle DX11, so I'm not sure if all is as it should be...

Use GPU-Z to find the DX HW level and release date of your card.

    MiniTri.vshost.exe
This file is not intended vor running, I removed it from archive and updated it in first post.

I added results to first post. What is already strange: same hardware sometimes work, sometimes not. Let's wait for more results :)
