Hello everybody.

Since a few days I have an really interesting Problem with my TV-Server - a complete reinstallation of the MP-TV-Server didn't help:

When I start the server completely new and try to Test a Channel with the TV-Server-Console (under Manual Control) everything is working without a problem - also all Clients are working and both cards can be used without an error. If i now shutdown all clients and wait 2-3hours and then start a Channel Test (under Manual Control) the Console crashes and live TV from a Client is also not working - I then have to restart the TV-Service (which only can be done by either rebooting the complete Server or killing the TVService.exe using the Taskmanager - its not possible to restart the TV-Service by just activation "restart" in the "Services Console") after that everything is working fine again

Attached are the logs before the "restart" of TV-Service and after.

Any help would be awesome

Hi Meier

The issue is with TsWriter - a deadlock probably caused by the EPG grabber. It is the same problem as discussed -->here<--.

Hey, that sounds promissing. I was having that problem I think ever since I use MP, though it does not appear every time I leave the HTPC for some minutes being idle (tv), but it happens quite often. Pretty annoying if a recordings fails because of that. I will try that and lookmwhat happens.
So I only need to turn of CRC-check, right? Idle grabbing is OK?

The idea (i think) is that just disabling CRC-Check helps and Idle-grabbing is ok - for me it worked fine

I tested it and deactivating CRC-check didn't do it. Still the same fault - it even felt like tv wouldn't work every time you waited a little longer.
So I also deactivated the idle-grabbing and that did it! Now I have the system running since five days without reboot and without the need to restart tvservice or MP.

While I'm glad you managed to find a workaround for you, would you mind posting your TV Server logs so that I can take a look and see what was going on?

tvservice in its current state is not thread safe.
so this most likely is the reason you are seeing this issue.

I already did major reworks for this in its own branch.
In fact I'm pretty sure I fixed these issues already as our internal tester 'FreakyJ' reported similar EPG issues.

What I mean is.. there's no reason in wasting time on debugging this as it's been done already.
