Tevii S480 switch the channels very slow (1 Viewer)

Hi,

i have a few Problems with Mediaportal TV. In front of i can say the Hardware is 100% OK i had test my memory, my harddrive and Windows is already running fine. No i have installed mediaportal on a new Windows 7 installation without any other programs, codecs. I have installed only the newest avaible drivers from the chipset manufactors. The MCE i have delete after Windows 7 installation.
Now to the problem(s)

At first channelswitching in Mediaportal takes 5-10 seconds
my 2nd problem was that i lost my tv tuners under tv servers, but i didn´t had connect the powersupply to the tv-card tevii s480. Since 5 minutes i have correct that and the card is connected to my power supplie. i will see that this problem is fixed byconnecting correctly (thanks mm1352000).
Now i hope i forget anything and sorry for my bad english. And thanks for help in front of.

As you can see, the things that take the longest are the DiSEqC switching command and the custom tuning (which is when the hardware actually tunes the channel). Having said that, compared to my computer every entry seems to take a little bit longer than I would expect:

My entire tuning process took about two seconds whereas yours took about 5. Within that time, my tuner took about 1.6 seconds to tune and yours took about 3 seconds. You can't really do anything to change the hardware tuning time except to ensure that the signal quality is as good as possible. If you take away the hardware tuning time:

Me: 2 - 1.6 = 0.4 seconds
You: 5 - 3 = 2 seconds

The other parts of your tuning process took 1.6 seconds longer than mine. I'm using a 7200rpm HDD. I suspect that speed might improve a little if you were also using a 7200rpm HDD for running your operating system and timeshifting. A 2TB is good because it can hold a lot of recordings, but it is also quite sloooow...

One last thing: there is an exception in the MediaPortal client on the first tune I don't understand:

Thanks for your answer and help. The HDD i a have insert is a slow HDD 5900rpm with 2TB. Friday Night i have order a 60GB Corsair SSD with 285Mb/s read and 275Mb/s write and when i get this SSD i will mirror it and hope i see a better switching times.

to the 2nd Problem i have. After i fix the power connection to the tv card, the last 10 Starts and round about 5 Resumes the TV Card is ever on. i think the power connect was the problem.

Yesterday i get my SSD and today i have mirror my system on it. i have delete my Logs and run the debug mode. at first i go on tv and i get an unknow error. 5 seconds later i saw tv. then i have switch 3 HD chennels and 2 sd channels. Then i close MP and here are my new log. i felt that the channel switching isn´t faster. can everbody help me to make the switching faster??

That took just under 4 seconds, which is an improvement of about 1 second...

It looks like you are still timeshifting on the slow HDD. Have you tried timeshifting on the SSD? I know doing that is not ideal in the long term, but I think you should at least test to see if it makes any difference. Also, you could try using older Tevii drivers and see if any of them are faster. Extremely fast channel changing 1-2 seconds relies on the tuner hardware and driver. If you require that sort of speed then you may need to think about whether you should get a different card...
