TV hosed on RC3. works on RC2. also on the relase candidates, i am from the UK. it searches for channels on cable from the netherlands. silly.

i also find switching channels takes a while and stutters.

I don't think this thread is the proper place to post your problems or bugs. You might try something a bit more constructive.

thanks!

Well, the thread is called The new RC3. I thought it could be both positive and negative experiences about the RC3?! I haven't posted a bug report but merely telling other users that it might not be as easy as one would hope. I am not complaining just telling what happen when I installed RC3. So I disagree, negative experiences can also be constructive...sort of.

This sort of comment is useless!

If you want to contribute to the improvement of MediaPortal, please log any bugs you find at Mediaportal Test Group, and include as much detail as possible.... :)

Then we can all benefit from your experiences.....

With the release of 0.2 RC3 I took the time to start with a totally clean setup.

After formatting the hard drive and installing all required software for MP, and installing MP 0.2 RC3, I have a system that is rock solid and does not show a single problem. I've had this system running now for 3 days solid without the need to reboot or even close/start MP.

I must say that I'm a firm believer that 90% of the problems experienced with MP are not caused by MP, but are caused by other software and drivers on the computer.
I have experienced my self that over time when I try and install other software on my PC MediaPortal sometimes gets negatively affected by this. It not MP that’s the problem, it the other software (or me for messing with my PC).

To me 0.2RC3 is as stable as can be. I think the Devs have done a outstanding job building this release.

I too believe that 90 % of problems experienced with MP are not cuased by it. I'm looking forward to trying out RC3 this weekend. I hope the WebEPG has been updated for RC3 so I can try getting tv guide data from it instead of xmltv.

    :D 8) :D

Personally I'm loving RC3. My MP experience started with RC2 and I was feeling rather dejected as after reading all the posts raving about MP I had a pretty much unusable My TV (which is what I want the most). I was reading threads suggesting I needed a clean install of XP and was looking to a long road ahead to get my MP working whilst I read emails from a friend who'd put on XP MCE and was loving it.

Thursday was going to be the day I began what I thought was going to be an arduous task of getting to the bottom of my MP PC2 problems (black screen when switching to fullscreen, errors then black screen when changing channel, flickering or black screen when recording, TV guide locking etc.). Then, as if sent from heaven itself, I saw this thread and promptyly took 10 minutes removing RC2 and installing RC3.

I lost my TV card (HVR-1300) configuration so had to spend another 10 minutes configuring that but the minimal effort was worth it as My TV now appears to work like a dream. Channel changing is quick, I can switch between fullscreen and not, tv guide seems to be working well.

I've yet to configure My Music or My Videos yet but as far as My TV goes... :D Thank you very muc.

My Thursday shall now be spent checking the other features out and not installing my machine from scratch. Hooray.

So your problem isn't bothering you anough to even check out a support thread?? Anyway, you can find all your posts easily. There is a link on the forum start page (up to the right) 'Your post' or something similar. I use it often ;)
