If you're getting the "Unable to connect to TV server..." message, have you checked that TV Server is actually running (ie. can you open TV Server configuration?).

P.S. It would be helpful to post fresh log files since we now seem to be talking about a different problem than we started with.

Yes, of course. I am at work now, but will send new logs later on. I can't configure the Tv server

Which option should I use from the Watchdog's 3 options?

PS: Lke I said before, if I am doing something to cause all these problems, please tell me because it is wasting a lot of time.

Guys. Thanks for your help. This is taking up too much of my time to solve. So, I am asking that you no longer need to troubleshoot for me as I am totally uninstalling Media Portal from my machine- every last trace. Mepo is working smoothly on my laptop and that just makes this cycle of problems even more frustrating. I don't know, maybe if I can devote more time to all of these technical issues I could be back. You have given me so much advice that maybe at some point I could fix this myself. I could be back. But that's all for now!

The support has been great and I really appreciate that!

    Well, that's really frustrating.

My last post was at 10:30pm yesterday my time, just before I went to bed. I've been asleep (on the other side of the world here - New Zealand) since then. Woke up about an hour ago. Have been preparing a response to you for about half an hour and was just about to post it when you posted this. :(

This is taking up too much of my time to solve.
What have you been doing that is taking up your time?
I mean, from my perspective I've been responding as quickly as I can, and have only asked for one screenshot and 2 sets of log files. Surely that hasn't been taking all your time?

Mepo is working smoothly on my laptop and that just makes this cycle of problems even more frustrating.
Have you upgraded your laptop to W10?

Executive summary of my post that is now unwanted is: your PC (Windows) seems to be borked. It is abundantly clear that it is not just MediaPortal experiencing problems. I suspect that your "upgrade" to W10 and compatibility issues with drivers may be the root cause of this, though I can't prove it.

Sorry to hear that you wasted your time. I was up at 6am yesterday looking at posts on this site. I had major issues with trying to delete a stubborn file which windows said was already in use. The cycle of the watchdog freezing and not be able to generate logs took some time. The real issue is that I missed things that I wanted to record.

Then the problem morphed into the server not be able to connect. It just seems that I was trying to fill a bucket with a hole in the bottom.

The total uninstallation (on my PC) was a means to stop time before, during and after work looking at this plugin issue/tv server. I am not convinced that even if your response helped me, that the curse of Windows 10 would not mess up something else

It's not that I am not grateful because I am in a much better position to look after Mepo on the laptop.

The good news is that I have finally solved the issue of the darkened colours in Mepo. I needed to update my PC's Geo force driver. Regrettably, after having solved that color issue MePo has gone from my PC.

I will not taunt or goad you guys by naming the alternative media center that I am now using on the PC , but the set up was effortless and it is working perfectly. I will still be using MePo on my laptop and it was upgraded to windows 10 too.

Sorry that you wasted your time.

That is not that surprising, since it will have been a fresh install on a 'debugged' Win10 system, versus doing a major OS upgrade underneath an existing customised MP installation (from the first post "The dozens of hours (over the years) that I have spent customing Mepo and it's cool plugins")

    Hi.

I think it is unfair for Mp, if update/upgrade to win 10 fails for one or another reason. This is freewill and goodwill community.
I've updated 4 machines to win 10 wich all have mp. One htpc and 3 laptops as mp clients. All working well after update. But i did what everyone should do. Check that all tuner drivers, video drivers, sound drivers , nic drivers at least are win 10 compatible, if not chech if there is one availabe and update before trying Mp in win 10.

And there is allways possibility, when whole Os that somethig breaks. I would ooint my finger to M$.

@te3hpurp 'Ive updated 4 machines to win 10 wich all have mp. One htpc and 3 laptops as mp clients. All working well after update'

That is great news. My grandad smoked everyday and lived to be 99! Just because something is not adversely affected, does not mean it can't be harmful to another thing.

My laptop is working well. Perversely, I just let that upgrade without a care in the world.
Don't assume anything regarding 'what everyone else should do' and the precautionary measures undertaken before the upgrade. Do you want a cookie? ;)

And my PC/Mepo were working initially after the upgrade, but as mm1352000 says the machine is probably borked. I can blame the Media Center that has served me well for years or the garbage that is Windows 10 which even sabotages its stores apps.

Media Portal is far and away the best media center IMHO and Windows 10 has ruined it.

The point I was making is that is was very easy to set up versus the fresh install of MePo which requires a longer set up. To be clear, I only turned to this alternative because my system is not playing ball. My laptop has MePo and is flawless. I am not bashing MePo it's the virus called Windows 10
