Timeshift and Server Restart Error from hibo (1 Viewer)

Hi,

I very much like Media Portal and I'm sure the frustrating situation with many obsolete Skins and pluggings still being available will be sorted out some day. Many a time I've downloaded and either installed or attempted to install and had my installation of Media Portal completely cocked.

However, on this occasion I have two problems which many other have had:

1. I quite often get this timeshift error which mostly leads to my having to completely reboot to resolve.

2. The issue where I receive a database error when the system restarts - say if I program MP to record something early in the morning. The system starts but MP is prevented from starting before the little ok box is clicked on the error notification.

Could someone help me out with these two pressing issues please as they just let the whole of the Media Portal thing down as I know I’m certainly not the only hap to suffer from these issues.

Can you just confirm which version of MP and TVServer you installed? Hopefully the same version?

Sorry for the confusion...
I can confirm that Media Portal 1 is installed with corresponding Server 1.

Didn't think Media Portal 1.1 was not yet released. Due sometime in March I thought!

You are quite right, but some of the 1.0.1 features are already available through SVN builds only recommended for testers.

Please add your log files.

Would you like to have the complete log file zip (it's over one 1MB!)

First delete all log files.
Then reproduce error.
Attach all log files in the zip.

Did you try to re-initialize after resume?

See this page in manual:

Reinitialize service on wakeup
Triggers whether you want to reinitialize the server (also reinitializes tuners) after resume or not.

Hi, yes.

Cleared error cache.

Started Media port.

Pressed power button on remote - puts pc into hibernation.

Left it a couple of seconds.

Pressed power button on remote - starts pc again.

Get an error message on screen saying something about being unable to start MSSQL database. (This seems to be quite common with other users too.)

Pressed ok on remote control - clicks ok on error message.

Media Portal starts.

Shutdown Media Portal

I then created the error logs for you.

This sort of situation isn't much good you one wants to record something early in the morning.

I've done about three complete re-installs.

Don't really know how to replicate the time shift error. It's annoying but there doesn't seem to be a rhyme or reason for it.

I use VMC (rubbish that it was) up until just before last Christmas ... all the aforemention seemed to work just fine with that. I have used Mythtv in the past but have troble with the remote. Media Portal is brill but these two problems are really hacking me off.

I'm not doing anything out the ordinary - don't even use many of the plugins for skins as I've found most of them a pain in the backside as they're not kept up-to-date. For the most part it a bog standard MP install.
